I am helping a mate purchase some subs. He is after SPL over SQ so i have suggested Kicker. He is on a budget so i have suggested some of these which can be had for $200 second hand easily. I have heard many Kickers before, they sound great and are extremely bassi for the price.

thoughts on these?.. They will be twin 10"s.

Could someone also recommend an amp?

I think kickers have amps designed for just their subs.

yeah the CVR's are a decent pick. and yeah, Kicker tends to design their subs/amps to be an appealing match for each other, not that it means theyre going to be any better than any other amp.

That pic in first post isnt a CVR, its just a Comp (150wrms). The CVR's (400wrms) are very nice though, used to have one! Very punchy! (And loud)

So you reckon spend the little extra for the CVR's??

What are the sub specs? Wattage and SVC or DVC?

They are 400wrms each and i am pretty sure they are DVC, someone else may know exactly...

Assuming they're both 4 ohm DVC, you could wire them up for either a 1 ohm load or a 4 ohm load - see this (http://www.the12volt.com/caraudio/woofer_configurations.asp?Q=2&I=42#results). So yeah, a monoblock that can produce about 800w at either load (probably easier to find one that's capable at 4 ohm, not a huge range of amps will go down to 1 ohm) would suit nicely.

It says on the terminal plate what load it is configured to. There was a 4 ohm and a 2 ohm released in that series.
