I did a search and found nothing....
Anyhow i just bought a new steering wheel off FamilyWagon and was wondering how hard the old one is to get off?
I dont really feel like having an air bag go off in my face or braking any of the plastic lol
Any help would be great...

1. unplug NEGATIVE terminal on battery
2. Undo BOTH torque screws (AFAIK is a T4 Bit) on each side on the air bag on the rear cover of the wheel
3. Pull airbag towards you, and unplug
4. Undo the big nut right in the middle of the wheel (leave a few threads on it so when you pull you dont break ya nose)
5. HEAVE!!! pull that wheel off... as i said MAKE SURE you leave the nut on
Reinstallation is reverse.

Make sure your car is parked with the wheels facing straight.
Disconnect the battery - some say to leave the car for a few minutes to allow for voltage to drain but I don't think it makes a difference
Theres a T30 torx screw in either side of the horn pad & airbag. From memory they're just standard type.
Disconnect the horn wire and cruise control wire (if applicable). Then once you get the horn pad and airbag out of the way theres a bolt holding the wheel on - from memory its a 22mm. It'll be damn tight so hold the wheel and pull it clockwise while you're turning the 22mm anticlockwise to get it to move. When the bolt comes loose undo it leaving it threaded in a few turns.
The steering wheel is usually on pretty damn tight on the splines so you'll need to give the wheel a bash with your fists to get it to move. Having the bolt in there will prevent the steering wheel from coming flying off and smashing you in the face if you try to pull on it.
Then put the new wheel on and check that the new steering wheel is on straight, From there just put everything back together and only reconnect the battery when the airbag is plugged back in and the hornpad\airbag is secured.

There have def been old threads in here about this - some a couple of yrs ago when Ralliart wheels (new-old-stock) were sold-off via GraysOnline and were popping-up on EBay. This was also discussed within the past few weeks.
However:
a/ get the PDF files of Gen Mitsubishi workshop manuals ===> www.lisho.net follow links to download workshop manuals, they have 2nd gen and 3rd gen and 380.
Download the PDF and install it. The 3rd gen ones have links within the PDF so you can jump to related info, even if in another chapter. Its easy to use and comprehensive.
b/ You need a TORX bit, possibly size T30 (i really forget) to undo the mounting bolts for the air-bag module.
c/ Ensure battery is disconnected, and while you are at it make sure you know the Radio Code if you have OEM head-unit and you expect it to work at the end of the procedure.
d/ be VERY careful not to dislodge or disturb the clockspring from its position, thruout the changeover.
e/ Loosen the nut holding the wheel, but don't remove it until you have the old wheel loose off the splines. This avoids you smacking your forehead with the wheel.
f/ If you cannot dislodge the old wheel from the splines, make sure airbag is nowhere near being connected and only then reconnect the battery. Start the car and move the wheel a very slight amount.... you will probably find the steering wheel practically falls off/loose. I have no idea why this helps, but I read it in these forums a couple of years back and it really works..... couldn't get the sucker to budge but starting the car it popped-off in seconds with basically no effort. CAVEAT: Starting the car with driver bag disconnected WILL log a fault in the SRS ECU. The dash light for SRS will light. It will not go away until you get the whole thing back together.
g/ When you get the new wheel fitted, make double-sure you have reconnected the airbag connector VERY firmly. I drove for weeks with SRS illuminated, had a workshop scan and try resetting the Fault code which immediately resumed. Luckily, they did not charge me for use of the scan tool, cos they didn't fix it. When I pulled airbag off again, the connector was not firmly atatched = D'OH!
Otherwise, the Workshop manual should steer you right.

i bought a universal steering wheel puller for about $20 which saves me bashing on the wheel to get it off. works good

man, i wish I had these instructions 9 months ago. I screwed up the 2 screws behind the wheel that holds the airbag in. They are so bloody tight... I might need to drill the screws out or something.. :(
