Does anyone know whether 18x8 +35 rims with 235x40 tyres will fit under 380 guards?
Thanks

They will fit fine mate, the size you have stated is nothing out of the ordinary. Although it's common knowledge that 18's look very small in the guards of a 380.

If your original were 215/60R16 then 235/40R18 will be way too small (19mm smaller which is illegal).
If your original were 215/55R17 then 235/40R18 will be even smaller (23mm smaller).

What you need is 235/45R18 or 225/45R18 tyres on 18x8 which will are +5mm and -5mm either way of 215/60R16 size.
235/40R18 will also be way under the load limit specified on the tyre placard.

But to answer the question of "will they fit under the guards" it sounds like a resounding yes.

Interestingly, that tyre size is much smaller than what's on my AWD (245/45/18 = 677.7mm diameter. 235/40/18 = 645.2mm )

I thought the 380 was even bigger than the last magnas

Anything smaller will fit under the guards. Whether it is legal is another story. What is the point of telling someone something illegal can fit. That is misleading. Anyhow, the base model 380s run 205/65R15. Sporty ones run 215/60R16 which is the same size as all AWD Magna/Veradas. Later sporty and GT versions run 215/55R17 which is bigger than the AWDs by 4mm.

Maybe it's just for track or towing purposes ?

But yes, IMO it's responsible for people to point out if it will result in an illegal modification for road use.

OP, has your question been answered and are you aware of the ramifications?

Thanks for the info fellas, my car is 2007 SX with 215x55x17 standard and I can see from the replies that I am looking at the wrong wheel/tyre setup.

Popular 380 sizes are 245/40/19 & 245/35/20 on a 8 - 8.5" rim.

Thanks, what offset would be best with those sizes, keeping in mind I will lower it some after I get the rims

+46 comes to mind but I'm not sure, I'll let someone else advise you there. I have no idea what mine are.

The odd person has had rubbing on the rear tyres with Superlows with the bigger rims but it isn't consistent. The top lip can be rolled over slightly easiliy anyway if you do get this. Mine has 19x8.5 with coilovers & is sitting lower than superlows & is fine (now). I initially had to slightly roll the top lip on the guard with the superlows but with the coilovers it is actually the rear trailing edge of the under gaurd plastic that scrapes. Heating & bending solved this problem too.

I have 19" 8.5" wide with 245x40 rubber. offset on mine is 38 on Kings lows. PLENTY of room on the front and no issues even with a full load on the rears. Have a look at my profile for pics.

I saw an article on guard rolling done by a crew called sydney guard rolling or similar. Don't know how much but there is no paint damage and looks really smicko. That is if you want to have the McHenry look.
