I'm helping someone out with a Mitsubishi Cordia GSL 1.8L at the moment, 5-speed manual, 4G37 engine. It's a 1984 car and as such it has been designed to run on leaded fuel.

From what I understand looking at some of the Cordia information sites, these engines already have hardened valve seats and the only issue they have that prevents them from running on Unleaded 91 is that the timing may have to be adjusted to prevent detonation.

Anyone have experience with older cars, older Mitsubishis or even Cordias specifically? I would be interested to know if the car can be adjusted to run on Unleaded 91 or if it may possibly run as-is. At the moment it's the only thing stopping this car from being a reliable daily driver and i'd like to get this sorted out. It's actually a fairly nice car otherwise, and the KMs aren't very high (117,000).

I believe the engine runs a 9.5:1 compression ratio if that's any help.

Cheers in advance.

Err, don't worry about it. lol Just went around there and the car was nothing like it was described, brakes didn't have hardly any stopping power, took a bit of force to get it into gear, trim fit and finish was pretty bad. Advised they walk away from it.
