View Full Version : Front Brake rotors
Hi all,
I have done some searching for this. Before I start this job I just want to know what I,m in for as I have only done front rotors in the past on rear wheel drives.
When taking the FRONT rotors off a TR 1991 4 cylinder, is it that all you need to do is take off the caliper and then they slide off ????????????
Thanks to all that reply.

Slide straight off the wheel studs.

Keep a rubber mallet handy to give them a gentle tap just incase. Some cars come off as soon as you breathe on them, other ones you need to beat the living shit out of them.

Bur only if you have driven through deep water and they have rusted on. lol Bash away but NOT with a metal hammer. Worthwhile cleaning rust off the back of them and the hub, and trying a position where it just slides back on easily. Less likely for the rotors to warp that way. (Maybe)
Thanks guys.
Ya I need to replace the rotors as you can feel a pulsing in the foot peddle and I am hoping that it is just the front rotor/rotors.
The brakes work FAIR,,,but want to make them work well.
This is daughters first car she is only on L;s

Check around for prices. I replaced the fronts of a TS with RDA rotors and pads for about $175. Made a big difference once the pads settled in. Smooth and even braking instead of that wobbly feeling. lol

You can always put the front end on stands, take both wheels off and just attach the wheel studs, start her up and let the hubs turn, you'll see how badly warped they are from doing this. visible shaking of the caliper is a dead give away.
