Hey guys, just a quicky?

I have a 3rd gen that has dirty as hell carpet. Is it possible to paint carpet black? or dye it?

Cost as opposed to buying black carpet?

Carpet is nylon, don't think it will hold a dye that well. I suggest you take it out and clean it on the cement with a brush and some laundry liquid first.

there is a TJ vrx at magna wreck with black carpet i got one from a TE sports and i payed $100 for it.... plus if u wanna try dying carpet i have my old gray carpet u can have

Carpet dye probably isn't the best idea, and new black carpets are around 400 from Mitzi and are really hard to come by. As above, look for one at a pick apart

I looked into it and while some dyes may hold, it isnt really for heavy traffic areas. About $100 for a 2nd hand black carpet. If you do dye the grey one, get some black floor mats to go over it so the dye hopefully doesnt wear off as fast.

You can just liturally spray it black. Use something that the smell doesn't linger. Saw this on 'wheeler dealers' where the guy had a grey parcel shelf and just sprayed it black, seemed to come up quite well.

The dye in a spray can (e.g. VHT vinyl dye) is what to use, for parcel shelf/door card carpet etc, but on floor carpet it may rub off over time and leave grey patches.
