Hey guys
Few days ago i went up the road to the shops, locked car returned went to unlock car using remote and went to open drivers door which was still locked. I tried pressing the unlock button again but no luck, the other 3 doors had unlocked tho. So after opening the drivers door with the key i pressed the lock button from inside a few times and the lock near the door handle closed and opened a few times like normal but after trying this another 3 or 4 times the drivers lock once again got stuck and wouldnt lock, but the other 3 doors are still working fine. I had the drivers door trim off to have a look but everything looked in place, the drivers door is now however working fine using the lock and unlock buttons on the remote but still gets stuck when using the switch manually from inside the car....
Any one have any idea's whats causing this and what do i need to do to get it fixed or is it a job for mitsu
Thanks guys.

if it is still under warranty take it to Mr Mitsi and get the motor replaced in the drivers door

i think its just outa warranty. I might try the motor from my mrs 380 and if its that then ill have to hunt one down.

I still have this problem, it locks fine on cold days and once on a hot day, but go to lock or unlock it a second time and you can see it's trying to flip over but just won't, it doesnt make and kind of "struggling" noises just annoying cause I sometimes have to lock my car with the key.....

I just got this on my left rear door, it's pretty annoying. What'd you end up doing Kif? I'm thinking i'll head straight to Mitsu

I'm thinking of swapping the motor out and seeing what happens if I can track one down, if yours is still under warranty we should throw my drivers one into yours an you hit up Mitsubishi for two new ones and we both win instead of getting ripped off by stealerships for once lol
Keen? lol

Keen as mustard. I'm at phil gilbert homebush right now, if it doesn't come under warranty they'll be sending me a $150 bill... I don't even know why anyone would service at a dealership

the perfect crime!
The service advisers there are such 'see you next tuesdays' at this dealership. i had to sit around in this humid weather waiting for over an hour to catch a courtesy bus to get 1km down the road.. not cool

Yep, my 380 came from Phil Gilberts and I wouldn't go back there, I usually go to Liverpool. So are they covering it under warranty?

i service in Parramatta Motor Group near Race course - perfect service and very fast... they accepted my car without booking and fixed faulty driver's side rear window motor within 1 day... as well as thermostat (on other occasion)...

...nup. Apparently no parts needed fixing, the whole rig was just loosened or something after a 'repair'. I work for a fleet leasing company and can see the cars whole history having bought it as an ex-lease, and there are no repair jobs in its history. Phil is slogging me around $150 for labour. i'm going to investigate how they deduced there was a repair (which most likely would have been done at a Mitsu dealer) and why this doesn't come under warranty

Yeah i'll let you know the details of the invoice. Chances are it'll come under fair wear and tear

Update: Ringing up for the final price, invoice has come to just under $60
Executive summary
First word Cliffton (Service Adviser/F$*kwit) says is we have you charge you $150 to run a machine through the 380 to make sure it hasnt been in an accident. if it comes under warranty its free, otherwise you pay. i thought wtf this should just be a simple warranty item but im here anyway
I come back to get the car, theyve apparently fixed it as it was just an adjustment, and apparently THE CAR HAD HAD DODGY REPAIRS DONE TO IT. i say you havent called my fleet company for an order number but have done the work anyway. however its good to have my car back and fixed. he tells my i have to pay for it and the bill will be over $150
Cliffton a couple of days later rings up the fleet company, ie my colleague who sits next to me and is looking after this authority, and gets a somewhat stern talking to about not following procedure. End result is a half an hour labour charge for 'adjustment'
so i've learnt that this service adviser from the get go tells you that your car has had bad repairs and that you need to pay for it... good thing i had fleet company backing, because that story completely disappeared when he spoke to my maintenance controller colleague
Not that we trust dealerships anyway

Zupps Aspley Mitsubishi seem to be expanding into the Sydney region.....
They couldn't say it comes under wear and tear, it's a part of the cars security and should not fail IMO

Me and my workmate were kind of disappointed they dropped the repairs con, we were ready for an all out war, seeing how long we could delay payment and ruin his books haha

Little better for a local Holden dealer. My partners Epica (yes yes - I know its a pretend Camry with Daewoo written everywhere that isn't the steering wheel), The drivers door handle refused to open the door. It just hung in the breeze like the latch had come out of it. Trouble being, the drivers door is connected to the alarm. This prevented us from unlocking the car at all and then starting it. With key or remote.
He took it to Holden and they sprayed silicone spray into the handle. Then charged $65 for the privilege. I was furious as the car is under warranty. They called it an 'adjustment'. They didnt take off the door at all. I had strong words with this 'mechanic' and we walked up to the car with a can of silcone spray and with a watch, worked out how it didnt take 45 mins to do the job.
In short, dealers are a waste of time and often all you pay for is only the shiny logo to be placed above their roller door. You are best dealing with the company direct.

I had a wise old mechanic say to me that the best place to get your car done is the privately owned guy who's been in the same spot for years... he's obviously good enough not to go out of business, and he's nice enough/doesn't rip you off so he's lasted. Not that all long standing privately owned places won't rip you off... it's just that so many of their clients have absolutely no idea

Hi Kif, - Old news now, but did they actually ever tell you what was wrong with the central locking? Our 2005 GT has for the past 6 months or so had the same problem, works perfectly in the cold, works once on a hot sunny day - We get lots of hot days in BrisVegas, but after that will have all the right noises of an unlock but does not actually unlock the doors, then when you unlock with a key the alarm goes. After we drive somewhere then lock it up, it will then unlock just fine, It seems to be a temperature related issue - obviously- but what I want to know is - temperature in what part? front doors, back doors ECU?
Anyone have any ideas? Is there something we can insulate better or move to another location?
Thanks
James

Hi mate,
Turned out being a sticky central locking actuator on the drivers door. Replaced with one out of a wreck about 6 months ago and can not fault it. Sorry, I forgot to update the thread.
