yeah, so my cars been running fine for a few weeks, and just recently started having problems, i think it's somewhere along the fuel line. Like it'll lose power at times etc, especially when it's under load. And will juts like.. stop moving going up a hill.. i floor the accelerator.. it ignores me. It's not doing it all the time tho.. kinda just randomly from time to time. It's like the fuel just stops going through.
My dad decided to replace the carby and fuel pump, just to eliminate them as possibilities. Also.. When the cars idling, trying to hold it between 1500 and 2000 revs, it will just go up and down from the point i'm holding it at, to around 100 or so revs before bouncing back up.. Anyone got any idea's what this could be? The carby has also been cleaned out, timing has been tweaked, swapped spark plugs and leads.. I dun have much idea with this sorta thing, so i'm running out of idea's fast. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Have you checked your fuel filter? it may be blocked. Take it out and blow through it, if air comes through (usually some fuel to) its ok, if not then you will need to change it over.

Ok, it might be worth getting a compression test done. Does the engine sound noiser than normal?

With the revs i know mine liked to jump up and down when i started it....which in turn made it die...that was the idle speed controllor (freakin expensive for new one  for me nehow)
But its prob slightly different to your situation

lol, thinking yer i did that during uni semester, holidays now, no need for brain to work properly
Hmmm, ive kinda had a similar problem over the past couple weeks, however mine was mis-firing instead of just loosing power when going up hills, for some reason it went fine if i reversed up the hill  .
Checked everything also, changed sparks, took the carbie off and cleaned it, checked the fuel pump, put fresh petrol in, checked leads and the distributor.
In the end we ended up bypassing the 'vapour seperator' (obscure reference in gregory's)[rather dodgy].
and it work fine for a couple of days and then started doing it again, now if i move the fuel line about a bit the car gos fine for a while before starting it again.
Anyway thats my problem, it may or may not help in your case :)
