Hey guys, I was just wondering what the deal was with TCL after a manual conversion is done. I've been looking at the circuit diagram for the TCL and it looks like nothing that is cut and rewired (cruise control, reverse lights and inhibitor switch) is even part of the TCL circuit.

I've been told people have had troubles getting TCL to work properly, can somebody "please explain"? I'd very much like to have it all there, even if it doesnt work when you mod for higher power, for legality reasons...

Thanks!!

PS: And yes, I did do a search, I'm up to page 9 in one window....

I can tell you that having just had my car converted, that the TCL still works to its annoying best to kill the fun...lol,seriously,i have had no problems with it working okay..

Traction control actually doesn't come on the manual models at all? Why, I have no idea.. don't understand why it can't work in theory having looked at the service manual about how it works.

3rd Gen or 380??

On Autospeed, they state that Mitsu Australia had troubles calibrating the system to work well on manuals. I guess thats why people delete TCL after their manual conversions...

no,it was on my Magna, and why would you bother disabling a system that has an on/off switch any way..

On all of the conversions I have done to date where there was TCL it worked post the conversion

Makes sense, the TCL does not really take notice of the trans, it talks to the ABS and the ECU and then pulls power if it determines there is wheel slip

Have been tempted to put an Auto ECU etc into the Wagon to see if I can actually get it working on the TW set up I have, is a cheap mans LSD in a way lol

Very cheap :P My LSD lets me STAB THE POWER all the way to the floor :P

In honesty, with cheaper tyres on, TCL would have been nice, how I have better tyres on, i don't have too big a problem with it.. but cheaper tyres in the wet was baaadd.. honestly was serious effort not to spin the puppies up. That was annoying. Then again maybe you should buy better tyres instead of TCL.

Mine sort of works after a manual conversion 10 months ago. It doesn't stop major wheel spin (like when taking off too fast), but you can feel it pulling the power back when cornering. From that point of view, it's a pain in the ass as it backs off too much in bends, so I usually turn it off if I want to get a move on.

I do have a Haltech Interceptor fitted, but I can't see why that should make any difference.

Hey guys,

The manual conversion is complete, but I cant seem to get the cruise to work...

I've done this:

found it...

from this diagram
http://img523.imageshack.us/img523/2058/cruisegl6.th.jpg (http://img523.imageshack.us/my.php?image=cruisegl6.jpg)

it's the green wire coming out of B-101 port 4.

http://img223.imageshack.us/img223/2571/cruise1iq8.jpg

just need to supply that with power and the cruise will think the car is in D.

cheers,
.wook

EDIT: thinking about it, you should be able to connect B-101 port 4 to B-41 port 15 and it'll behave just like a manual car.

And it STILL doesnt work!

Any ideas guys? Getting sick of driving without cruise....

To be more specific, I've done this: "connect B-101 port 4 to B-41 port 15". Still no worky, with the cruise control switch buggy compared to when the wire wasnt connected...

have you connected b-101 (13) to earth via a clutch switch?

No, I thought the car would run cruise without the clutch switch connected... Will I need it to get it going?

im assuming that you havent swapped out the factory dash loom for a manual dash loom, hence the ccecu may be getting an earth via the existing wiring, it is easy to test cut the wire if you know what you are doing and see that cruise starts working, but only if you know what you are doing.... just remember that if you press the clutch with cruise active then its gonna rev out as the car tries to maintain speed

if that works then fit the clutch switch (which as i described above is necessary)

You need to simpy cut the black/Res I think it is from memory from the cruise ecu, is the wire on teh back row 4th in. THis will then allow the cruise to work, if you want the clutch to work you need to run this wire in series through the clutch switch. This will emulate the way the manual magna works. The green you have mentioned has no bearing or use when doing manual conversion

Please dont recommend "test cutting" wires, only reply to these threads if you are 100% sure as you can cause the OP a whole lot of other issues if the wrong wire is cut or given power/ground

Stock auto cruise control ecu, with wire 13 cut on b-101, still nothing.
Wire 13 is blue, wire 4 is blue with yellow trace and on b-41 wire 15, it is blue too.

Please tell me I've cut the right wires....

From the wiring diagrams, you find the wire number by looking into the plug so that its going upwards you, not away from you right?

edited accordingly (bubble wrap installed)

So cut black with red trace and wire that through the clutch switch to make it work?
Gimme 10 to restore the wiring and I'll cut black/red trace and test.

Thanks mal

b101 (4) is Green
b101 (13) is Black/Red
b41 (15) is green too

Cruise now works! Thanks mal, I owe you a 6 pack of beer, will swing by when Dingers gets his manual conversion done!

Does anyone have a pic of this clutch switch? I too have a manual conversion done several years ago and have suffered without cruise ever since. However I do not know if I even have a clutch switch...

Any pics of it, and where that black / red stripe wire needs to go, would help immensely.

what i did was to use the brake light switch l had from the te conversion i had..

.......this switch simply bolts up to the clutch pedal where the stopper is now..

..the black/red wire is located in the cruise ecu which is in the console on the left hand side, just fwd of the phone socket thingo...simply locate said black/red wire..cut...take one end to switch, return with the other wire...hook back into ecu loom...should work...

Hey. I had a look on the weekend, but I am not sure what this is meant to look like. You wouldn't happen to have a pic of this cruise ecu? Im tearing my hair out...

Mal did a manual conversion for me on the weekend and tcl can be turned off and on as per normal....we tried a launch with it off and on and it worked as per on/off
