hi ya all,
well i got this TH magna. not sure what model it is as all the stickers/badges have been ripped off.
i went into mitsubishi and got no luck on finding that out either.
plus ive since found out it doesnt have abs either (not happy but anywho)
i want to put cruise control on. whats needed?
id like to put the abs on. is it difficult?
i am an auto elec so the electrics side doesnt scare me at all.

Probably a base executive.
ABS is probably more effort than its worth. You need the ABS unit, all the brake lines, drive shafts with speed sensors, the sensor pickups, and probably other stuff.
Cruise - no idea, but once again probably more effort than its worth. (But that's just my opinion lol)

First of all welcome and love the Rux3, will swap that for a cruise kit if you want lol
Glad to see our experts have chimed in early to tell you it is not worth it, seems that like myself you are quite easily able to do the job but hey, it must not be worth it I guess, perhaps I had better burn my car as I ahve not only fitted ABS and Cruise, I have also fitted SRS inc seats, climate, fast glass as well as a host of other stuff, lucky I found this out before I went to far lol
Now, to actually help
Cruise and ABS can be done in one hit to save some work, from what I can tell you are not afraid to get down and dirty so here is what you will need, best to get from a TJ as parts will be far easier to get, may as well do fast glass and climate while you are at it.
Either way is a dash out, if you are an auto elec, dash will not daunt you too much
In short, for the ABS, you will need to replace pretty much all looms bar the RHS one. YOu will need to change over the brake lines to the rear OR mod them if you have a doble flaring tool as they will need to go into a different unit. All mounting points are there under the bonnet however a hole will need to be drilled for he ABS loom.
Rear K frame needs to be chaged over or atleast hubs and stubs at the rear, front knuckles will also need to be changed and pick up rings added to drive shafts.
Cruise, this will require dash harness top and bottom and engine harness, the main front harness already has the cruise wiring installed
I will not say it is not worth it without seeing your car, if you have a nice car, you like the car and dont mind getting dirty in the process, go for it
If you look at both my rides threads, links are in my sig, then you will see quite quickly how much is involved with some pics and can make up your own mind as to if this is worth it or not.

lol I knew my "not worth it" comments would elicit a response! lol Thanks for the info, Madmagna, if he is as dead keen as you are to rip into a car then good luck to him!
He probably also needs the bits on the throttle body for the cruise.

thanks for the responses.
rx3 not for sale lol
yeh not afraid at all. if you search my username on da net you will find i do alot of custom work in auto electrics.
abs i can live without. but when im dodging kangaroos would be advantagous..(as i found out last friday, missed it but massive lockup)
cruise control im more worried about as since im clocking 1400kms a week ive found im not keeping a very consistent speed ie creeping above speed limit occasionally. im not very happy about this.

Yeah find a car in the wreckers that has a cruise control and ask madmagna for a shopping list :) There are after market kits as well :) abs is for people who can't drive lol

abs is for people who can't drive lol
True. But its nice to know that you can thump the brakes as hard as you want and you won't leave half of your tyres on the roadway. lol And the steering wheel still works while you do it! lol

fast glass?? never heard that terminology before.
think i might have found a tj donor car.
only thing is engine is gone so the throttle control part is gone. but there is a TE near it with the throttle control on it.
are the TH and TE the same throttle body?
cheers
