Hi all great forum with loads of usable info.

New to the forum and already have a qestion for the gurus, after searhing the forum I am still none the wiser so decided to ask here.

My SOHC 6G72 engine block is damaged and I can pick up an engine block from a DOHC 6G72 version but I dont know if they are identical or not.

I know the heads and related parts are diferent but what about the block?

I intend on fitting all my SOHC gear and intenal engine parts as long as all the holes for the engine mounts pwr steer alternator etc are the same. Oh and the main bearing bolt holes to rebolt on my crank and mains and pistons, sump, oil pick up etc.

Anyone know if the blocks ae identical or not between the SOHC and DOHC 6G72 versions?

Thanks for the info and all the useable info already on here.

Hello Dan,
PM Madmagna or try the mitsfix section of the forum. He may have a complete 6g72 or 74 working engine assembly which would be cheaper than repairing a damaged engine.

Cheers

They are different HOWEVER I have done a test fit of a DOHC heads onto a 3.5 block, managed to get all timing up and going, project was not completed so really did not get to finish this all off unfortunately, is something I will look to do when I get another pair of DOHC heads

From what you are asking I assume you have a 12v engine and not a 24v engine ie the s4, if you have a te onwards I have some 3.5's here and can set you up with everything you will need to bolt one of these straight into your car
