Hi , and I hope there is an Aircon Expert out there.
I need help figuring out the correct wiring of my Trinary switch in the receiver drier. It's on a 1994 Mitsubishi but I expect there's a good chance that the same principles and wiring colours may have been used ona number of models.
What's happened is that I did not realise this connection had been modified by cutting off the original connector and then reterminating the wires with crimps. Problem is when the wires come out you have no idea where they were instead of having a connector which normally only fit one way.
It has four connectors and the wire colours are green(white trace), green (yellow trace), green, black.
Can someone tell me where each goes?

iirc two terminals closest together are the compressor low pressure cut out, and the other two are for high pressure fan control
generally the fans are controlled by switching an earth and the compressor is controlled by switching power
use a test light to find which wire has power... should only be present with a/c switch on
the other 3 wires need to be probed with the test light to get the fans to switch on... the wire that does this is evidently the fan control
of the other two i'd say that the black will be an earth, and the other is the compressor wire
hope this helps

Ok, so what you are saying that they are paired farthest left with farthest right, top with bottom. low pressure = top/bottom, high/fans=left/right, earth for fan control. Thanks I should get it from here.
Impossible for me to find wiring diagram although I have got haynes for same year different motor and it shows green-yellow/green-white paired. It mentions trinary switch for 1994 but then does not show the wiring, only for the binary switch.
Thanks, I'll post the results when /if successful:learn:

You're the Man! Legend:woot::facejump:
No probing required with that info.
I put Blk on right, Green on left, paired the other two top/bottom and cold inside/ fans running.
Now I can go about doing a better job until i find the right connector for it. From what i saw it must been corroded out and reterminated cheaply. there was a lot of copper bluing before I cleaned it out.
Thanks champ

Hmm it different to my car :( Anyway here my advice is to look at the cut plug, bell out each wire to each pin. You can go to the wreckers and cut a plug of a wreck and solder it all back together :)

Thanks, not a Magna so don't be concerned however I was hoping they had the same setup on the second gen series so I could get lucky.
Anyway the plug is long gone, just floppin wires & a bunch of corrosion hence my predicament, caught unawares because I don't know the vehicle history. It stopping working, no clutch engagement and it looked a bit suss around the connector. Curiosity then killed this cat.
Anyway all i need is the right connector to terminate these wires back into, I've got the connection correct now, and all working.
