Hi there,

I have recently purchased a 380 vrx and just noticed a small patch of grease/oil stain around the airconditioner pipe as per attached pic. The pipe is located at the front of the engine bay on the driver's side and has a sensor attached to it. The grease appears fresh, but i can't see it phsyically drip out.

I am guessing this is not normal - anyone know the likely cause?

Cheers

It could be a slow leak from the switch allowing compressor lubricant out. Get an aircon mechanic to look at it. Might just be a spill of some kind though, is the power steering reservoir or oil filler cap anywhere near it? If your air con is leaking, you will soon find its not working.

if that were an a/c leak of that magnitude then you would have little or no cooling effect, a slow leak would most likely be more localized, just degrease the area down and keep an eye on it... as stated above its probably just a spill

The same area of my engine bay is a litle dirty/greasy/oily, but not as bad as in your pic. I have no idea where it comes from, but my aircon works perfectly on a nearly five year old car, and it has never been serviced or regassed. So I doubt if it's a problem, but as the_ash says clean it up & keep an eye on it.

I agree with what everyone else has said. Is the AC working properly? If so then I suspect it is something that has leaked onto it. Let us know how you go after you have degreased it.

Thanks for the responses. I have now cleaned up the area and will keep an eye on it.

Air con is working fine, so hopefully it's just something spilt on it.
