I was wondering if anyone might know whether it is possible - without wiring modifications - to fit an earlier climate control module + surround (e.g. KJ Verada) to a TL Magna? Haven't given this any serious thought but wanted to put it out there to see whether any of the more knowledgeable folk might know. Cheers D

The reverse is possible - member matty.c did it, I'm positive he made a thread about it - so it should be do-able.

If I recall correctly, it might have even been plug and play, as he installed a TL centre console too. The only difference was that the KJ had an outside temperature sensor and the TL didn't.

Can't see why not, you can plug a T/KL climate into a KJ and it works fine, just gotta change the location of where the radio sits further down and the climate over the top.

It's doable. You'll need the TJ CC unit, the upper and middle console and the radio mounting brackets. Should all just be plug and play.

Thanks to all who responded. Looks like I might give this a go, just for something a little different. Might have to investigate the outside temp monitor a little further though.

Would the wire/gauge normally read the outside temp from the front grille?

In the TJ, the temp sensor is inside the CC ecu. In the TL the temp sensor is mounted externally to the CC ecu in the dash. There is a plastic tube behind the console that feeds air to them both. The TL can use the TJ CC ecu without modification but not vise versa. The sensor we are talking about is the cabin temp sensor not the outside temp sensor. Both TJ and TL CC ecus have the same pinouts and use the same plugs.

Sounds good, is it very scratched, and would you be willing to do a deal on the surround to go with it?
