Does anyone know the difference between the TE-J and TL-W interior door handles? I vaguely remember a thread about modding TJ ones to fit a TL, but search didn't show anything up for me. Can the be successfully swapped over?

I'm stretching the memory here, but if I recall correctly, there is something either present or not present on the back of the TW handles that either is or isn't there on the back of the TE-J handles, if you get what I mean? There was some modification required to get them to work. They fit, but need something done to them, a tab removed, or bracket made up or the like?

The steel bracket or the plastic surround bit? Dang it, too many beers since I saw that elusive thread...

its to do with the linkage rod (?) for want of a better term that heads back along the door from the handle to the door. FFS man you got one of both, take a door handle off and compare :)

Too hard, its dark. lol Don't really wanna take the TL apart any more then I absolutely have to, it has no rattles or squeaks, its freaking amazing compared to the TJ.

Taken a door card off a car won't cause rattles or squeaks, unless you don't put all the screws back in. Tho most of my trim pieces are missing screw and no rattles lol

Ah I've just bought some black TL ones off ebay, I've got one chrome TJ one off my car, don't ask, and I'll compare the two when the black ones arrive.
I created said elusive thread. The TL ones have a specific metal bracket added to them as the TL runs a cable-based locking mechanism instead of the steel rod seen in earlier models. The bracket holds a small clip (Take one from a wreck - There are quite a few around for cables such as boot release, ac controls, etc...) that secures the cable. A quick fix around this is to screw a clip on to the metal of the door instead (but if you're against drilling this isnt going to work!).

Cheers dude, just what I was after. Might see if I can butcher two sets together, ie TJ handles on TL bracket. I'll see how I go when my black TL set get here.
