I was converted to a verada about a year ago and it has been great driving it since, hasn't given me a problem until a month ago when it started to overheat to around 3/4's.
Usually its only in car parks or driving pretty slowly or until Ive given it a bit of fun along the freeway so I took it to a radiator repairer and spent $330 on giving it a flush, new thermostat and he also cleaned the fins. It was all good until i went to the shops the next day and it started getting to 3 quarters again. I took it back and they were stumped, They replaced a few relays and seemed to think it was an electrical problem but couldn't fix it, They said that my thermo fans aren't working 100%.
Is this a common fault with Magnas? How much are new thermo fans and do you think that is the problem?
Ps, I know i rambled on hah, just trying to give as much info as possible.

Well, SA weather is pretty punishing but it always stays below 1/2 on mine.
I don't know what he could mean by your fans not working 100%. So far that sounds like nonsense to me.
Try turning on the airconditioner - does it make a difference? How about turning the aircon off and putting the heater on full-blast?
On my first gen, I had to replace the relays as the fans stopped working completely, but that was all.
I suspect you might have a damaged head gasket or corroded head, but that's only a minor possibility.
I have found that cheap coolant - even Tectaloy's entry-level stuff is totally insufficient in this weather and you will get corrosion in certain areas and overheating.
Tectaloy Gold has helped my Magnas survive the most punishing of summers without apparent corrosion or overheating.

i don't think its anything to do with the head, the oil doesn't seem milky at all. On my receipt from the radiator place they wrote that they use tech gold but im not sure how 100% that is as i haven't checked yet.
ill check the aircon and heater soon matee. im stuck at work

I have owned a TP, 2 TSs and a TJ over the last 10 years. I have always used Techalloy gold. Never has so much as a lift of the temp gauge, always sit on half, no matter what the conditions. There must be something else wrong.

Usually, you get temperature issues first and then (but not always) begin to notice water in the oil. By that time you've only got a couple of hundred kilometers left, anyway.
When you check, wait about 5-10 minutes each time to see what happens.
I'd try to first ascertain when the fans are coming on - mine come on at 1/2 gauge and I've never seen anything higher than 1/2 even crawling behind trucks up the Toowoomba range. When they do turn on, the blast of air should be very hot (do this with the bonnet up and engine idling and aircon off). If it's taking till 3/4 or higher for the fans to come on then it may be your coolant temperature sensor that is faulty.
