TR 1991 4 cylinder.
OK took off all 4 rotors and had them machined. Got new front and rear,, “middle of the range pads” The pads are called Auto force. Sprint Auto parts tell me they are made by Bendix . I have used this brand of pad before and had no problems.
Before doing this work the brakes had some pulsing through the brake pedal, and for quick stopping you had to press hard quite hard on the pedal.
After doing the work NO pulsing through the brake pedal,,But still if you needed to stop in a real hurry these brakes just won’t stop you.
I tried to lock the brakes, but I’m scared of BENDING the pedal. If someone cut out in front of us I doubt well could stop.
I can’t see any air leaks to the power booster
I can’t see any fluid leaks, not loosing fluid.
All callipers look ok no leaks.
Could it be that this car has 16” wheels and these brakes are just not designed for wheels that big??
The tyres are standard 16” they are not sports or big fat tyres.

Hmm I have 16" rim my brakes seem ok, maybe you need better brake pads. Or you need let them to bed in like Mad max suggested.

Single piston brakes are shit, that's it.
I'll have a nice twin piston upgrade available in a month or so as soon as I find some 3000GT front hubs.
Twin pistons absolutely crap all over the single piston brakes....
Also your rotors will go up almost an inch in size with a V6 brake conversion....but yeah - could also be the pads...I found ferodo zero's to give the best pedal feel and bite, just horrible HORRIBLE dust. GCT's were like having blocks of concrete as brake pads - worst pads ever.

I put new rotors and pads on the front of my single piston TS. RDA brand. Scared the crapp out of me when I drove off, no brakes! Or that's what it felt like. Took a few km to work better, came good after 100 km, they needed to settle down and turned out to be excellent. I'd hate to do all four corners at once though. Just find a quiet road and try a series of medium pressure stops until they come good. I blame it on the non asbestos organic compounds used in pads these days.

I sure hope they get better,, as just driving around normal they pull you up good enough ,,but if like you needed to really bang em on hard because someone cut in front of you,,well I think you'll be pushing and the car will still be going :eek2:
