Hi,
Currently I have a 2001 tj 3.5, and I need to know which alternater belt suits this engine, apparently their are two belts that suit because their are two different air conditioning compressors that were installed on this model.
The most common is part no. 6pk1195, which is longer than the least common on this model.
Any help appreciated.

So what are you asking? If this is true, the belt you need obviously depends on what is on there now. Take it off and look at the numbers on it, then buy the matching belt.

Thanks madmax for your response, I can't read the code on the belt, but my local bursons shop said their are two different belts fitted depending on which a/c compressor is installed on the car, he gave me the most common belt fitted to this model.
The other belt was used on cars was shorter, and less common but he couldn't tell me which belt suit each compressor.
I'm explaining it as he explained it to me.:yeahthat:

Just see if the old and new belt are the same length when you take it off. If you got the wrong one, put the old belt back on and go back to the shop.
It would have been less of a problem to get both belts off him, and ask him to accept return on the one you don't need. Simple.
I have bought a belt that I haven't tried to fit yet. It is a Dayco 6pvk1200. Measuring the length tells me the last number refers to the belt length in mm. A 1195 would be 5 mm shorter than the belt I have here. Which is the right one? lol

I bought the belt as I am going on a camping trip, and thought it would be wise to get a few parts just in case.
Cheers.

These belts are rather difficult to change, especially in the middle of a trip. Not something you want to do by the side of the road.
You are better off - if you have any doubts about the belts - to change them before you go, and keep the old ones as spares.
The only product numbers I could find on their database are within this range are 6PK1200, 6PK1195.
The first number is the number of ribs i.e. 6
P stands for Poly Rib
K is the automotove profile code
and the last four digits are the effective length in mm
To my knowledge...
6PK1195 is for MITSUBISHI GALANT 2005-2008 3.8L 3828CC 6CYL and MITSUBISHI MAGNA 2001-2002 3.5L
6PK1200 is listed for MITSUBISHI MAGNA 2003-2004 3.5L

Thanks for that info. My belt came from rockauto.com and was ordered for the 2001 Diamante with the 3.5L engine. If it doesn't fit my TJ I don't think I will bother to send it back. lol
Then again 5 mm extra belt should be do-able. lol That's what the tensioner is for.
My belt is a Dayco 6pvk1200 - any idea what the "V" means?

V-Groove
Edit: I should add that here in Australia the V is not included in the part numbers (no reason why)
