I currently have KH Xi where the sunroof is in excellent condition and is working. I was wondering if it is worthwhile getting a sunroof installer to transplant it into my verada or just install a Hollandia 700/900?

Need some help out here guys!

Although I havn't done this (wish I had though), I can't see any reason why they couldn't do it. The factory sunroof looks like it's supposed to be there not some tacky afterthought. The biggest problem I could see is that the roof of your car would need to be repainted as it sits under hole.

A friend of mine contemplated doing the same thing after his KF XI was written off by his insurer after being rear-ended. He made enquiries with several sunroof installers and while they all said it was possible, non were willing to take on the job. He priced Hollandia and Webasto sunroofs and the best price he was quoted was $2150 to do a Verada. Not sure which roof it was. In the end, he took the agreed value, let the insurer keep the wreck and he bought a later model Verada XI.

easier to chop and weld the whole roof panel on as your car wouldnt have the mounting points to secure the sunroof. also they are a rolled lip. Just get a hollandia.

I have a sunroof here from a TJ2 VRX that I'm considering putting on my 'rada. I've been quoted $1,500 to fit & paint. That's with me stripping out my interior, re- fitting it & paying to get windscreens removed/ re- fitted.

Haven't decided yet if I'll go ahead with it or not but it just gives you an idea of what it may end up costing you.

That means u'll have to get someone to cut off the middle part of the roof where the sunroof is i suppose? Stripping the car down isn't an issue, i do like a factory look but if the hassle is not worth the effort i might as well go after market.

Need to check out the rest of the costs. I would love to keep the factory look.

No, I'll cut the roof off the wreck at the lower parts of the a,b,c pillars. He'll unpick it from the frame, & unpick the entire roof off my car - then weld the new roof on, complete with sunroof.

I have asked about that mate. You might end up with alignment problems and your doors might not seal properly.

Ive also heard stories about people jumping on car roofs to dent them in and lift a corner of aftermarket sunroofs to break in to them, and that its not so much of a problem with factory sunroofs due to the rolled lip not bending/seperating from the rest of the roof.

Sounds like a lot of effort for a magna… insurance would cover it anyway. Would pretty well be a write off I would imagine

I specifically got an XI Verada because of the sunroof being std. I love mine, I use it every day in some way. The vent(tilt) feature is massively handy in summer for in-car temp and the roof has none of the rattle that the normal cars seem to get on rough roads.

Plus, they are cool and in 10 years, mine has never leaked once. I rang Mitsu before I bought the car and they said at the time, they have not heard of a seal ever needing replacement.

I won't buy a car without one now. Or, I would have one fitted.

I want a sunroof... just exploring my options since I have KH Verada XI sitting out at the driveway with the sunroof and I can really trash it.

Hmm... looks like either I do a roof transplant (which will introduce its own set of issues) or go for a hollandia 700/900 that does not have a roll cage...
