Hi Guys...Had a tow bar fitted yesterday...Nothing special just something to tow the box trailer about..I specified on several occasions that it was a KJ Verada not a magna and that they had a different rear bar to make sure the bar was right..Now I have picked it up I see they have cut a section of the rear bumper underneath, not such a big deal but the new bar sits flush up against the bottom of the bumper and there is no option but for it to rub.Is this correct or is supposed to be clearance..I think they have still fitted a Magna bar as I think they still did not listen and reckon they can get away with anything...Thanks

They shouldn't have needed to cut anything from the bar at all.

Mine wasn't cut/ deformed in anyway at all. It was just a case of dropping the bar, fitting the towbar & re-fitting. That was a genuine Mitsu towbar, though. Perhaps if you post up a pic of the 'modification'?

There should be a bit of clearance. What brand towbar did you have fitted?

There is no clearance..I have a cloth between them so no rubbing..
Unsure of brand..Just got it at the local trailer centre..

If you have a torch & a mirror try & have a look for the manufacturers plate that tells you the manufacturer & the part number. You could then try & reference the part number to an on line listing. If it's a Hayman Reece assembly then you can check the part number here:
http://www.haymanreese.com.au/mmysearch.asp?Change=Model.
They have different part numbers listed for the Magna's & Verada's. Not sure if there are any differences in the Magna & Verada assembly that bolts on to the vehicle but I do know that the Verada gooseneck/drawbar is longer due to the different bumper bar.

That is fine mate. Yeah they do cut a small piece out from the underside of the bar.
Just had a tow bar put on the KJ AWD and i made sure it was a verada bar and they had to cut this small piece out. You can't see it so its cool.
My bro has a factory bar on his KJ and his has the same.

I can see that the piece underneath had to be cut and I do not have a worry with that.It is the goose neck section comes out the back and rubs on a visible piece of the bumper..I took it back and explained my worries..They were ok with it and are going to have it sent to a guy with a press to have it pressed a little flatter..They checked the order code and it is for a Verada and not the same as a Magna, but the neck needs to be a little flatter or a little longer or a little thicker as with the Hayman Reese bar so it gets some sort of clearance.Mine is so tight against the bar I have a rag stuck in there towing a trailer this weekend and it is still there..The 4 trailer trips were about 200 to 300 kg's each load and still no gap in the bar and bumper..
Found a fellow on the weekend had a verada same model with a hayman reese. The two bars used were about 2 or 3 mm thicker each giving it that combined extra thicknes to clear the bar..
