Im thinking of getting a new headunit for the Lancer, a few of the things I would like are...

Must have DAB
7"+ Touchscreen
USB
Ipod and Iphone compatability
Media Player (Divx, H.264, MKV)
GPS not essential
DVD/CD Not Essential
Must be able to connect up to stock Rockford amp in the car, not sure if the HU will need its own amp or not. Lets just say optional now until I talk to the installer a little more.
Must be a reasonable brand so I can get it to work with my steering wheel controls

Does anyone have any suggestions of models available, or know of anything coming out soon?

Thanks!
Keith

Looks like there is a JVC KW-AVX836NAV (http://www.jvc-australia.com/JVC/client/c_products_details.jsp?catID=28&prodID=649) It should have the ability to control a JVC DAB (http://www.dabonwheels.co.uk/JVC_KT-DB1000_DAB_car_radio.html)add-on, and BTW, you probably already know, I'm pretty sure UK DAB products are compatible over here.

No MKV support, nor H.264. That might be a while.....

And you might want a peek here (http://www.dabonwheels.co.uk/DAB_car_radios.html)

UK DAB and Australian DAB+ aren't the same.

DAB uses MP2 audio, DAB+ uses AAC+.

Some DAB radios are upgradeable to DAB+ with a software upgrade, and some are dual compatible out of the box.

Happy shopping, I want a digital radio for my car as well.

We can get it on the coast ATM if you are in the right place and you hold your tongue right. But I have heard it on some of the good stereos at work (Sony make one with all the trimings for around $600, and the radio quality is fantastic!)

Seeing as that is the way of the future with radio, I don't know why car manufacturers haven't already made the switch to a headunit that can do am fm and dab. Also, I need mkv support as a lot of my music vids are that format
