Quick one guys - is the keyless entry transponder coded to the BEM/ECU, or can I swap one from another car without any problems?

you can swap them car to car, just follow the guide to re train the BEM to the new transponder in the car manual in your glove box

If for some reason you don't have the manual follow this:

# To place the car into program mode, turn the ignition between ACC and IGN three times within a 5 seconds period, and then leave at the IGN position.

# The hazard lamps will flash once to indicate the car is now in program mode.

# Within 5 seconds of this acknowledgment, press any button on the first remote.

# The hazard lamps will flash once to indicate acceptance.

# Within 5 seconds press any button on the next remote to be taught. This process may be repeated for up to four keys.

Sorry guys, it's not the keyless remote, it's the transponder under the dash that receives the signal from the remote.

Little more info please, are you wanting to programme the remote to another car or take the BEM out and use that in a differnt car?

What model do you have as up to the F series there was one system, H onwards changed uses a BEM system

Yuo can use the remote on another car, yo can not simply take the bem out and put into another car with out a lot of other work as well

The car in question is a KE wagon.

As I've said, it's not the remote, it's the receiver unit. It appears to be a part specific to the E series, although I could be wrong. The unit itself is marked 'Receiver Assembly' part # AW348877, made by Australian Arrow Pty. Ltd.

As is an EI, there is not relation between the ECU and the Receiver, can be taken out and moved into another car no worries.

The only time is an issue would be with an Xi but as is a wagon they did not come in Xi.

The part that needs to match unless yo have a MUTTII and know how to manipulate it is the Immob and the ECU

Excellent, thanks Mal. How do the Ei and Xi systems differ?
