Heya Guys
very quick question before I place an order for a K&N Panel Filter. I have a 3.5L October 2000 Magna Advance TJ. Is the panel filter to get the kn33-2151? I'm asking because it only seems to mention up to TF model magnas for that filter and I don't want to pick up the wrong item. I've decided against a pod mainly for ease of installation and I don't want a noisier car. I understand I won't see huge gains going for the panel filter but if in future I decide to add some form of CAI will it work with this panel filter or do you need a pod for that.

thanks for your time

I had a look at the k&n web site and the Martel bothers web site and they both show the 33-2151 for the 3.5l magna/diamante.

yes from my research the 3.0l one is the one that always comes up for that filter hense me asking if it would go with my 3.5l. I rang a few repco's and they all said they were special order in jobs so if you see that specific filter for $99 in stock your doing very well!
I'll prob order one off autospeed for $116.89 which seemed to be quite a reasonable price

Yeah the panel is a good idea , i could check the item number for you but the box is in the garage and its 10pm and its freezing :?

Anyway you should notice the engine start's and rev's a bit more easy and you can buy a filter cleaner kit for like $20 so just clean it every few month's and the filter should last the life of the car.

And another note dont play around with the air intake by drilling hole's or changing pipe's because anyone who has done this and is willing to admit will tell you that you will loose bottom end power and response. the stock in take is as good as it gets for the price so just get a better muffler if you want more power ;)

hahhaah "DEATH TO PODS"

no its not like that at all they have there use's and can add more power on certain applications its just that on a magna with a few mods and badly tought out and executed pod your just going to make a mess , ive have a pod filter before with an intake i made age's ago and i know it makes alot of noise and that's about it for certain car's .

Yeah thanks widow its actually some of your posts that steered me towards panel over pod. Would I be correct in saying you've just slipped the K&N filter in and left it at that i.e no form of CAI? I've got a lukey exhaust so hopefully that helps it as well. Glad you found it sola|2a I'll let you know when mine arrives.

slayer,

nice purchase.. i will be getting mine in no time 2. ;)

i m actually very interested in getting the lukey muffler.... a few question i hope u can answer:

1. how much was it and the cost of installing?
2. will it void the factory warranty?
3. u have insurance? what do they think about the muffler? i have NRMA so i guess it should be pretty strict.. anyway

would be great if u can answer my enquiries... thanks alot :D

Mitsu warranty are slightly different from other manufacturers in that if the problem is found to be not at the aftermarket product's fault, they will warranty it and replace for free...if it's the fault in relation to the aftermarket product, then too bad....

My car is still under warranty but with the mods I have and putting in, I have declared it to myself that the warranty is void LOL... :!:

Yeah I'm eagerly awaiting it, I'm trying not to get my hopes up as much as I did when I got the exhaust but I'm still keen to receive it.

Ok as for the questions. I got a different Lukey to the usual 2779 job apparently mine is a 2779 with all the extra bolt on parts which means you disconnect the stock exhaust and bolt on this one with minimal effort (the 2779 is a cut and weld job) My exhaust was a lukey al4-5597 and cost me $250 including a 3inch tip installed. This was after a little bit of bargaining I could of gone more if I'd bothered plus I kept the stock exhaust.

MagnaV6Sports13 covered the warranty question

As for insurance I'm with NRMA as well, to be honust I havn't even enquired about what the mod will do to my insurance, it's very minimal and atm the only performance mod so I think it should be ok (although being a 21yr old male isn't helping)
