Maybe have a study of section 54c and see what wiring differences there are. 2 things I noticed were a clutch inhibit switch and the speed sensor is highlighted as separate for the manual.
can you get any codes out from the self diagnosis feature?

Sorted this out a few days back, read this, has ALL the answers
TLDR: On the cruise loom, you cut the black wire with red trace and wire in your clutch switch there. Thats all you have to do to get cruise control working. Easy as....

Yup. Cut the wire then electrical tape both ends and go for a drive to make sure you got the right wire. Dont clutch it with cruise on!!!

why not? isnt that the point of the mod, so that the cruise cuts out when the clutch is engaged?

There is no black wire with a red stripe.
I have a TF can't be that much different. This is the unit in question isn't it. I pulled it from where the light is in the photo

That is because yo have a TF, the TH onwards is done this way, teh TE/F have to be done slightly differently, will look through my notes when I get a chance and give you the method as has been a while since I did the TF conversion with cruise
The TH onwards, many have tried so many complicated methods with relays etc, but when I did look at the diagrams I came up with the above, was simply a single wire, and route it through the clutch switch if you want clutch to cancel cruise (ideally for RW issues is meant to)

Cheers, I could wire it up using relays ect conected to the inhibitor but I would prefer a simpler method

Had a look at the haynes manual. The circuit diagram has a black with green wire going to the inhibitor or a clutch switch, only problem is it doesn't say which model it is tf, th or tj

followed the wiring diagrams of the inhibitor aswell, turns out for a TF this Black wire with green strip is the wire to cut and install clutch switch to.
if i knew this was that easy i would have done it years ago.
