Hey guys.
I am so sick of having to change cd's all the time.
Does anyone know of a good shop to get the Galant Ipod connection kits from.
Thanks so much.

Am not particularly looking forward to installing it myself, but nothing ventured, nothing gained!

It's very easy to install & instructions are comprehensive.
As the ebay site says but, if you have a separate cd changer an additional harness is needed! (SX, VRX, GT)

Does the standard one really count as a separate one?

Had the same thought myself regarding whether the CD changer is classified as "seperate", have read through the previous thread regarding this, i wasn't sure to be honest if the extra harness was needed as it wasn't mentioned in the install instructions that somebody had posted (unless i'm blind!), so was a little confused, the extra harness was an extra $39USD so i bought it as well, just in case....

Yep I can't remember exactly how it works but the cd changer takes up the round plug location so the extra harness enables the iPod interface to connect with the cd changer. The iPod interface comes up as cd 2

According to this information, no it doesn't. I have the in-dash 6 disc changer, and my 13 pin external changer plug is empty. So unless you have another like, 10 stacker in the boot or something along those lines, you won't need the extra harness.

So no extra harness is definitely needed? Can you control the Ipod via the stereo or is it just a simple connection and you choose songs on your Ipod and they play?

Yes it is controlled from the factory head unit. I'm sure when I installed mine a number of years ago the iPod interface couldn't plug in without the extra harness if you have the 6 cd stacker. The description for the harness actually described it like that too. I got mine from a US Mitsubishi dealer.

The diagram shows that both ways of installing it - either on it's own or with the adapter for an extra CD changer - uses the same 13 pin connector. Most Mitsubishi radios of the time use the same 13 pin connector on the adapter and radio. There is a 20 pin connector that goes into a secondary CD changer, but either way you are connecting a 13 pin connector into the radio.

Well I'm confused, I was sure there were no spare plugs on mine otherwise I wouldn't have bothered plugging in the other harness.
The ipod adaptor becomes your second cd changer in effect.
I'll be doing some surgery on the car soon to install my JBL MS-8 so I will have a look then.

very very easy...grab the lower part of the fascia, and gently pull from the bottom..two clips either side at the bottom rear, then, working your way up to feel the resistance and pull the whole lot off..there are two looms /plugs at the back..undo..ba boom..then its four screws to take the whole unit out....and then disconnect the aerial and looms...well .....that's how it is on my GT

Yeah check that out, my car definitely had a spare plug for an additional CD changer. Maybe someone has hidden one in your car. lol
Actually I found a picture in the above thread, I URL'd it to keep the clutter away.
Note unused connector (clicky) (http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r473/sidewinder0042/100_3226.jpg)
Edit: I've just thought of something, maybe you had a prewired cable for an additional CD changer, as my old Magna did. All I had to do was buy the unit and bolt it under the seat, instead of having to tear half of the car apart to run the cable. Just a thought.

and if you go by that guide listed, you DO NOT have to remove the buttons on the fascia..........

Looking forward for the result - however I remember some other thread where there was explained how to manage the switches on the iPod cable. Any ideas?

Ok just to clarify this extra harness thing. I just pulled mine out & it has absolutely nothing to do with the circular pin connector.
All the harness does is connect in series with the multiplug on the head unit to give a power feed for the ipod adaptor. I have it installed but looking at the diagram, unless you put an additional cd changer in the car, the ipod adaptor will get power via the circular connector & the harness isn't neccessary. I have it installed & it works fine though but not required.
...... Hmmm, this also gets me thinking if it is possible to get some kind of media player (instead of an additional cd changer) to be able to plug in a portable hard drive full of music??
If not possible I can use the Aux input on my JBL MS-8 once it's installed :)

Fooz - good forward thinking - it would be great to be able to hook portable hard drive.

Yep would be good. The trouble with my 32Gb IPhone is that decent quality uncompressed (itunes lossless) music is about 5-600Mb per album so won't take long to fill 32Gb.
