I am a little frustrated too. I bought a Pioneer system years ago and was getting heaps of dust getting in the front display, very annoying at the time....
Now I have my new unit with the flip down front thing I'm thinking to myself "good, no dust this time!"...wrong, there is dust in there already and I have only had the thing for a few weeks.

Strange, I've had my Pioneer deck (DEH-P4350) for yonks and never had a problem with it.

Pioneer's gear has gone a little downhill as of late - I had a DEH-323 that lasted about 7 years, and it was sold with the car - their speakers have always been a little on the dubious side...
Had a look at Pioneer for the next deck, decided against it and went Alpine - good headunits, good speakers, so-so amps (not enough output power - they used to be Jap amps, but now they are made in Indonesia IIRC), and ordinary subwoofers - however, they are not the downright awful like sony subs... but that is another thing...

iv had probs with a set of pioneer 6x9's 3 way, 330 watt, thay cranked until the cracked, now they rattle!! meh ill get some alpin eones soon.
Pioneer's quality has deffinately gone down hill in recent times, especially their head-units and speakers and from what you are saying their amps aren't that flash either!
I know of atleast one a guy who installs car audio equipment for a living and cringes every time he hears someone say that they have a pioneer deck, usually because the next few words that come out of the person's mouth is, Question: Why does it make that awful noise.
Answer: Because it is Pioneer!!!

What aweful noise?
Also, there was a recall on Pioneer amps a few months ago... Not sure of the model, but you may wish to check the Pioneer website..

ive always had pioneer and never had anything bad to say
if anyone has heard my stereo as it is now then i think they would agree that it sounds ***in schweeet! although it is all the top of the range gear. ive never used pioneer amps though, cos i have heard bad things about their amps.
That Pioneer recall was the biggest non-event I have ever witnessed. They were recalled because they got very hot and Pioneer was worried they might catch fire.
Now can anyone tell me of an amplifier that doesn't heat up when working hard? The sheer concept of the semi-inefficient class A/B amplifier dictates they will heat up somewhat...
