Hey guy's

havnt posted for a while probably cos i was loosing interest in my 3rd gen!! But i think i have just found the deal of the centry!!!
A distant friend of mine drove her 2003 TJ ser II AWD off the gillies range near Cairns and has been writen off!! she's ok just a couple of scratches and bruisers.. unfortunatly the car was not insured and now resides in a friends back yard!! i was asked if i wanted to buy some parts but said i could probably have the whole car for $1000!!!

damage included was bonet, guards. grill, radiator support, radiator, headlights, K frame and strut towers!!
the car still starts runs and drives perfect.

So HELLO ralliart brakes, AWD possibly?,spare motor, vrx spoiler, 4x mags, interior, power windows ect... Only problem is to do the AWD conversion is its a big job and we only have one car ATM. besides i dont really want to give up my 5 speed!! LOL....

just thought i would share my new excitment!!! any thoughts??

unless u have a AWD platform u wont be able to do a conversion without cutting the floor to suit the larger tunnel for the tail shaft, And transfer box. Have a look in the foot well of the car and u will notice that the floor is quite different.

ahh ok i was under the impression all the TJ platforms/ bodys were th same? so why do the 2wd sedans have a such a large tunnel?? really only for the exhause!! oh well still got a shit load of spare parts otherwise!!

All 3rd gens were the same, bar the AWD. The floorplan is different along with some other things (eg fuel tank). No-one's done a FWD->AWD conversion before so unless you want to be a guinea pig I'd suggest maybe giving that one a miss :)

Afaik the front AWD brakes will go straight onto a FWD, but the rear brakes will require a spacer, available from Hoppers Stoppers.

Don't forget the paras too :)

Sell the GB for $1000 you'll make your money back on the car no worries. heaps of people here want one.

Glad to hear that the friend is of course ok.

gotta love getting a spare / parts car nice and cheap to get the bits off it you might like for your car.

Get the bits you want - and then sell the rest off, you should break even on the cost of the car at the very least and you will also have free upgrades for your car :D WIN!

I swear someone in QLD has done this.... Remember them saying it cost around 10k to do the conversion..... SOOO not worth it.

But good score on the car though mate!
