hi everyone
i had a gearbox problem since last friday and i dont know what to do.
well here is the problem the day before there was absolutely nothing wrong. then on firday the car will do the normal gear change, 1,2 and then drop in third, but now all it does is rev, nothing happens unless i lift off the throttle where it will then drop in second.
before that i hear two massive clunks
can someone tell me what the f****k it is?????

Better take it to an auto trans place and get them to have a look at it. It could be the diff, the
torque converter or the gears themselves (2nd gear might have lost some of its teeth).
If its doing that for all the changes (1 - 2, 2 - 3, 3 - 4, 4 - 3, 3 - 2, 2 - 1 etc) then it might
be the diff.

being a 4cyl auto box should not be hard to source.
May know where to get one for you, it is not that hard a job to install.
You will not have done the diff as this will be evedent in general driving, I would say it has stretched a band or has burnt oil, may be servicable.
This is what happens when yo do too much drifting in an auto lol

Ive been having a similar kinda problem...
When i step on it a bit, itll change 1-2 fine, but If the revs are high say higher than 4g it wont catch onto the 3rd gear until the revs are dropped to about 2.5g..
This happens just about every time if im on 4th and accelerate hard and it drops to 2nd automatically, and if i let go just before it goes to 3rd it wont catch straight away.. and doest until it gets to about 2.5g.
Ive only noticed this After i took of my resonator boxes, but im not sure if it has anything to do with it, or if its just Coincidence..

i always knew that one day i would blow up 2nd gear as i engage it everytime i take a corner but now it's 3rd gear.
that's what;s pissing me off.
hey mal can you give me a rought approximate of how much it can cost all up ?
i have been quoted $1000 as the least.

UPDATE: Just put the resonator boxes back in, and had a bit of a drive to test it out... Gunned it about 10 times and it didnt miss the 3rd gear like it did before!!
I know for a fact it would 3 out of the 5 times if i tried before with the boxes in..
So i dont know if this helps mercury, maybe it has something to do with the way the cars sucking in air?

when you removed the resonator boxes, did you plug up the hole nice and tight? Because if its
not airtight then you car will run very rough. Just a thought.

sounds bizarre
i have never played with the resonator box of even airfilter
but then i have just replaced my air-filter.
maybe it's got something to do with it
i'll take it all out and give it a good clean
and see what happens

It might just be coincedence, but it was messing up just before i put them back on and didnt when i put them back.
I'll see after a few drives and update if the problem persists
