Hey everyone,

How hard is it to take off and put back on the door trims of the front without stuffing anything up? I am thinking of changing over the Front speakers in my car and if its not to hard to take these on and off then i might do it myself then payin someone else a heap of cash.

Getting the trims off is easy, its getting them back on thats the trick, there is two ways to get them on, one way rattles the harder way doesn't. Its pretty fiddly to the top seal on right but take time and it will be fine.
You'll need to make up some baffles though, the 380 speaker is a beast, where the magna has a large speaker shrowd, the 380 has a small shrowd, and its part of the speaker, two mdf rings about an inch wide, suited my 6.5"'s nicely.

Taking the door trims off is a snap, have taken off my passenger side front trim about a dozen times now chasing an elusive rattle. Putting it back on is also dead easy, don't let Shoot put you off! Do it with the window fully down, angle it out a little, reconnect the two electrical plugs, check the position of the armrest support bracket (in the middle of the trim), it has a little tongue which needs to go in just the right spot, then push the top edge down over the door sill. Put the four screws back in & your done!

No, not a bit, looks & sounds factory fresh even after a dozen removals & refits. In fact it sounds better (quieter) than factory due to the extra foam padding I have put in the door & the trim.

But I still haven't tracked down the damn rattle coming from that part of the car, been there from the day I bought it.
I'm now thinking the rattle is high up in the corner of the dash, maybe in the dash speaker, and never was anything to do with the door.

This is a long shot but do you put anything in the overhead sunglasses holder? I know I was driving around the other day with the music off and there was this rattle coming from the passengers side... it drove me crazy I spent at least an hour trying to chase it down...turns out it was just a pair of damn sunnies.

@OP: As for removing the door trim, you are upgrading speakers yeah? It might be easier to get a audio specialist to do the initial install as after market speakers wont slot straight in and you'll also get some form of warranty with that as well.

Nup, def not the sunglasses holder, never had anything in it and checked & double checked it. There was a small buzz coming from the rear view mirror, turned it 360 degrees and gone.

KJ I am hearing that aswell in the same place of my car. I thought it was my door speaker being even more stuffed but turned the stereo off and was still there. I think the passenger mirror has been knocked though. Did you mean you have moved it back and forth and is all good now?

I was talking about the internal rearview mirror, not the external one.
The internal mirror has two ball joints / pivot points.
One day when searching for the elusive buzzy rattle I tapped the top of the internal mirror and it buzzed like mad.
Rotated it 360 degrees around the bottom pivot point and the buzz was gone, and it's stayed gone.
But it still wasn't the buzzy rattle I've been chasing down!
My passenger side external rear view mirror also has a rattle in it, but only if you tap it on top in a certain spot. Can't see any way of getting at the internals of the mirror without risk of wrecking it, and I'm pretty sure this isn't the source of the buzzy rattle that has bugged me for two years now, as window up or window down makes no difference to the loudness. The passenger door external window trim (top of door bottom of window black strip) also rattles if I tap it in a certain spot. But so do all the other three door strips, so pretty sure this isn't the problem either. As you can guess I've spent many many hours tring to trace & fix this annoying buzzy rattle (which mainly happens at speeds over 80km/h on rough roads), I've removed/adjusted/packed out with foam just about everything on the left side of the front passenger compartment, and still I can't find or fix it.

Getting way off topic here!

I had an annoying buzzing rattle for a while & it ended up being the passenger headrest. Also had another at one point which was tracked to the passenger rear inner door handle.

just quickly guys, you need some MDF for the front speakers correct? Do you use just the normal speaker spacers or get some mdf and make it your self and if so what size?

I mount my tweeter under the plastic protector of the stock dash tweeter, but Knotched's is mounted in that plastic, like cut a hole in it and put the tweeter there, looks good too. You can't see mine.

I made a MDF baffle using the cutout of my speaker and its about an inch thicker around from that, you'll have to pull speaker cable through to the door, the stock stuff just doesn't cut it for me.

A 6.5" speaker baffle out of shop should do, though.

I could get away with just replacing the door speakers with some 6.5'' 2 ways though?
