Many of us have great interest in this project and would like to see an outcome. There are many levels of expertise here as well as many different opinions. Let us be a little bit more sensitive in our comments to one another, even if we disagree with them on all counts and think they are a wombat (errr sorry mecha lol perhaps some other critter eh).
Let's have some fun and all learn a bit on the way.

I'm just putting this here before I forget because I have a habit of deleting my desktop notes... It's more of a reminder for myself than anyone else, sitting down with him to discuss a rebuild for my motor.
Speaking to a mechanic for Geoff Pickering Racing today who used to build the engines for the NP Pajero rally cars that they use. He's saying he can get me part numbers for the cams and conrods that their 3.8L racing builds use. They use stock rods, but I didn't ask about the pistons. He mentioned just stardard porting and the usual head work. Done somewhere down in Brisbane. Apparently they pull ~400hp and run in the 6.25k rev range. Their tuning is done through Steve Knight and his current project creating a rear wheel drive TF magna.

Well I must say that I am surprised that they use stock conrods esp on a race built engine that is expected to do most of its work at optimum revs and basically driven flat out all its life. It wouldn't bode well for reliability, unless, that is, they are running different rods to the 380 tooth picks!!
