Usually when I first start my car it starts at 1000-1100rpm and settles down to 900rpm a few seconds later.
Yesterday I cleaned out my throttle body as my throttle was sticking and now when starting it climbs to 1800rpm and sits there for 10-15 seconds before settling back to 900rpm?
Anyone know what could be the cause?
I'm thinking I probably have to make it relearn how to idle after having MAF sensor unplugged?

Sounds similar to a problem I had with my car this time last year...I started a thread on it...see the link below

The question I'd ask is does the car do the same when you stop @ traffic lights? i.e. idling changing erratically? Or when you shift in reverse...i.e. takes time to adjust?

Based on a similar problem I'd say its the IAC. Originally my throttle was sticking too (well so I thought), so had that checked and cleaned but the problem only got worse over the 2 week period that followed. Long story short...I bought a second hand throttle body with an IAC attached to it (wreckers) and its worked great ever since!

No after the 10-15 seconds of high idle it returns to 900rpm and stays there, if i turn the car off and start it immediately it shoots back to 1500rpm for 10-15 seconds again. I'm thinking its opening the TB to much on start now that Ive cleaned the mass off gunk out. I'll try the relearn procedure today and see how it goes.

Fixed with a relearn, TB was really dirty so doesn't have to open as much now to let in same amount of air.
