Does anyone know what the maximum ball weight is on the 380?

fairly sure it is 160kg - 10% of max weight

I know it can only tow a max of 1600kg major bummer as the falcon can tow 2300kg.

The 380 is a very good tow vehicle, I dragged a large tandem trailer full of garden waste at 100 Km/h, it even changed up to 5th and was doing the usual 2000 rpm.

The falcon can only pull 2300 if its an auto, and the cost of the Falcon pack is over $1,600, over 3 times the cost of the 380 bar.

Thanks for the pic. I realise that it is a capable tow vehicle, but there are limitations set to all vehicles and I was trying to work out what to downward load limit on the ball was as we are looking at towing a caravan with it.

Just to confirm rprodrive thoughts, the download weight is 160 Kg, I checked the stamping on mine. Good luck with the caravan towing.

the ford heavy duty tow kit also comes with a load levelling kit, which i had to buy for the 380 cause the front wheels kept spinning in the wet when towing a tandem trailer with a supra on the back it cost $700

the 380 kit didn't even come with a towball!

yeah I got told that I would need a ride leveling kit for the 380 being FWD. I don't know if I will need to get a different bar to get that. perhaps someone in the know can advise on that too?

u just need to get a compatible hitch that fits the square reciever as the factory towbar is heavy duty.

The load levelling device is needed regardless of which wheels are doing the driving when towing heavy stuff. You will lose steering capability as well otherwise. Generally, the downward load is 10% of towing weight. There are some that are not (e.g., the new Pajero as towing weight well over 3000 kgs but the downward load is only 200 some kgs).

We tow a 16ft van with our 380. We have electric brakes and the 1600kg factory tow ball. Never had any issues with power even fully loaded. I can cruise at any speed but safely I do 90-100kms depending on conditions and road. :)

This shot was taken with stuff in the boot - I now travel with an empty boot and just fill up the van.

Looks like it is set up very well too. What L/100 kms do you get towing out of interest?

it looks like load distributing bars fitted thats why theres no issue with getting power to the ground

I'm guessing 16-17/100 if sitting on 100 clicks.
