Hey guys!
I have a 98' TF which has a shit of a problem. On random occasions, when you go to start it, it will crank over at full speed. But not fire up!
It has happened numerous times so far, and I have found that it is sparking, with a strong spark. But the fuel rail has no pressure too it!
My thoughts are, perhaps the ECU is not telling the fuel pump to prime?
Anyways, I need to know where the ECU is (Its not under the kick panel left hand side like most cars) and is there any problems with just swapping the ECU's?
Cheers guys!

ECU lives in the middle of the Dash up against the Firewall where your selector cables go through. cant swap ECUs because of Imobiliser

More likely to be a problem with the immobiliser. It cuts power to the ecu stopping the fuel pump and the injectors firing.I had this problem on a lancer replaced the immobiliser and a key to match the immobiliser and problem was solved.

Search in these forums for immobiliser and immobiliser antenna/aerial. There is sometimes a poor connection between the immobiliser antenna (a wire coil around the ign key opening) and the loom going to the ECU near the firewall (behind centre console, under heater). Poor connection can be a plug under the plastic shrouds around steering/footwell area. Lots of old posts about this - some clean/jiggle the loom connector plugs, others have deleted the plugs and soldered the wires.
Some also think that a dying battery/alternator may be the cause, with not enough current to get ECU at correct voltage to allow the car to start. Search function may give a zillion results, but there is definately good previous experience of the problem - so info is there to be found. Sorry I can't assist more, I have never had the issue myself.
I've never had this problem either, but to prove if it is the ECU killing power to the pump and injectors, or at least the pump, try wiring the pump directly (hotwire). I'm not sure what colour wire it is at the pump but the manual should show the colour. Could also be the fuel pump relay.
