View Full Version : 12V battery wire?
Hi guys,
Can anyone confirm for me that the blue wire on a KF Verada is the 12V battery wire? I've installed a new head unit in my car, and it doesn't seem to remember anything every time I turn the ignition off for longer than a couple of seconds.
Any help would be much appreciated!

blue is accessory, red w/black trace is battery

Awesome, thanks!
So if I have them the wrong way around, the car stereo will still come on as normal when the ignition is turned on? Because that is what it is doing.
I should also mention that I used the wiring diagram posted in another thread, and none of the colours matched what they were meant to be on the diagram, I just used their position in the plug to determine what they are for.

Third gen wiring loom is different to second gen and 380 :) Plus you should never assume what wire does what. A light globe or a mulitmeter is a better way of seeing what wire does what. Plus there is a manual you can download for free, to check what wires do what; link for workshop manual: http://www.lisho.net/?page_id=3

Yeah I noticed it's kinda arse about compared to the diagram I found, it worked for my other two mitsubishi cars, but not this one.
Thanks for your help guys!

Yup. Spend $20, get yourself a crap test light and multimeter, they'll do the job for the few times you need them before they break.
Thanks for your help guys, it's much appreciated.
The only one I couldn't work out was the power antenna, none of the wires left over would operate it. It wasn't working when I got the car, so I guess it's stuffed. I was kinda hoping it just hadn't been wired up properly.

I'll do that if I ever have to do another one. :)
BTW, your avatar cracked me up the first time I saw it. I'm such a nerd!

You wouldn't happen to know which one is the dimmer?

theres a black with yellow trace wire as well which is for the dash lights as well, but its for the earth side of the lighting, all the dash lighting is powered thru the green/white wire from the parking light circuit, thru the globes in the cluster/heater controls/factory radio and thru the black with yellow thru the dimmer control to earth, but yeah u only need the green with white trace to trigger an aftermarket headunit to dim
Thanks Ben, much appreciated. :)

If installing an aftermarket headunit they has a dimmer wire do not connect this wire the the stock wiring as you will lose your dimmer functions on the dash

OK, thanks for that. Do you know why that happens?

no, if u connect the black with yellow wire to your dimmer wire u will lose the dimmer function on the dash, if u connect it to the green with white wire you will have no problems.
