Hi guys,
Is it possible to swap/change the standard 2 tail pipe exhaust on a TJ to a single tail pipe similar to those on VRX models?

You could buy an aftermarket muffler such as a redback or you could buy a VRX muffler and have one of those welded on :). Any exhaust shop should be able to help you out with that. These items pop up from time to time on the forums/ebay :)

Yes you can do the above, however are you talking about just the end muffler?

The exhaust on the 3rd gens are in different sections. Replacing the rear end section is the most cost effective when it comes to getting a better sound and some extra performance out of your car. The rear end section consists of just the rear muffler plus some piping that joins up to the mid section. You can get an off the shelf lukey end section for about $200

The mid section consists of another muffler and a resonator. If you want to do the mid section aswell, go for a redback system which is a direct bolt on. Around $350-$400 for the system and a couple hundred more for fitting and an exhaust tip welded on, depending on what exhaust shop you go to.

Thanks for the advice!
I'll be looking at doing only the end muffler. I had a look at the Lukey & I think it's what I would like, with a single down pipe exhaust tip.
Any advice on where the most cost effective exhaust shop is in Melbourne to do it at?

Not sure if Mal does exhausts..........

Thanks & cheers
