View Full Version : EEk! the interior!
Heyllio
Last friday, I decided to commence my holiday project(s)...destroying the interior. Friday afternoon I took a trip to spotlight and SuperSh*t. I had purchased 1 metre of blue fluffy stuff, a 450g can of plastic primer, a 350g can of grey silver metallic spray paint and a litre of grease, wax, tar remover (also known as metho)...this set me back a total of 50 bucks in total.
Having no experience at all removing the window winder or door trims, I decided to hack at it myself....15 minutes later, i had removed the driver door trim and the inserts and pocket was out. Not purchasing any glue, I had sewed, yes, thread and needle the trims together at the back, and screwed them back.
Anyways, when that was completed, spraying of console commenced, all went well, until the paint. Being a metallic silver grey, you needed to spray the paint on almost perfectly, otherwise some parts will turn out shiney and reflective, and others dull grey. This annoyed me.
Anyways, here are the results.
Oh, look, more photos....

Im not that crazy on blue or fluff.. But it does stand out..
Only thing i would do is change those little LED lights at your console for some Cold Cathodes behind the dash...

Looks great. Well done. I can only hope that, when I finally get around to it, my efforts end up looking as good as this  :D
the blue fluff was inspired by braez and his fluffy black and white stripes...the fluff does wonders for females apparently :bowrofl:  Braez, uno what i'm talking about.

the paint i used was silver/greay metallic (quoted from can lid) and u have to make sure its even or some parts will turn out silver, and some grey...mine turned out perfect :)

Nice job!! :D
Good idea with the lower doors. That stock carpet stuff looks shizenhausen.
Is the window winder clip easy to get back ON?
Looks like you broke the RHS airvent clip (like me, and a few other members)
We might need a group buy for them!! lol

I might consider doing mine now.... :D
holy ****fight that looks brilliant. did you have to tape off the surrounding area to do the console bits.. or did u take it out somehow.
will keep you and a bit of labour money in mind when i get a magna ;-)

nah, i ripped everything out, but taped off the hazard switch, coz i have no idea how to remove that

winder is easy to get on, just put the rubber surround and slide the c clip back in and push it into the winder metal thingy. I had issues with getting them in the same position, so they look the same when the windows are wound up.
Yep, u can't just buy the vent alone, so all up is around $484 coz i broke the clip
Lastly, use metho to clean the plastic before primer and painting...i didn't sand any of it, and i dont intend to put a clear coat on either

Very impressive.
Awesome results on the paintwork too. :)
Cashflow & wife permitting, I intend to do that very same thing, you've done a brilliant job mate, great inspiration for me.. I'm thinking purple though, purple respray, purple inserts, black leather, and will see about some purple on the dash somewhere. yea purple! hrm.. wonder if you can get purple leather.
