I've had my car for sale for about 2 months now on carsales. Price is low/very reasonable.

NOT ONE CALL.

(My last car sold in 2weeks)

Is it just the 380 thats hard to sell atm, or is it all cars?

Based on the profile pic i'd say this is it. http://www.carsales.com.au/all-cars/private/details.aspx?R=9872880&ref=RecentItem&__Ns=pCar_PriceSort_Decimal|0||pCar_RankSort_Int32 |1||pCar_Make_String|0||pCar_Model_String|0&__N=1216&__Nne=15

Having done a search there is a lot of 380's for sale in WA at the moment with similar price and km's, including VRX's, which probably isn't helping your chances. The market is also fairly poor right now, hard to sell.

Seems like a fairly reasonable price given the kms and condition, very strange indeed.

I'm not a fan of car sales. Slightly off topic, but I had my TH 5 speed listed for about 2 months at a price of $3000. Not one call. Ended up selling through gum tree.

i'd say its cars in general ATM my black VRX 380 sold after 4 days being on carsales to the first guy that called. I had my GT up not long after and my phone didn't stop ringing, in the end i realised i would only buy another one so there wasn't much point in that, wish you all the best in your sale mate!

how can it have a new car warranty until 2014?

I too am not a fan of carsales. I was selling a my old Nissan Bluebird on it, again realistically priced and all, but no nibbles. Put a sign on it up at the local spot for selling cars and I sold it within a couple of days to someone just around the corner. Wont go with them again. May want to try the sign. Works for me.

yeah thats the ad :)

Might try the sign thing -- good idea!

Its got the NCW till 2014 as part of a diamon advantage buyback scheme when I bought it.

Nice car im sure you will get at least 15 for it. I too have mine on carsales and its a rare "manual, black, leather, sunroof" combo and not had any interest yet. Only reason im selling is i need a knee recon so want an auto 380 now. Went to a few yards to trade in on an auto 380 with double the kays and no leather or sunroof and they wanted $5k changeover.

We buy them cheap...and get a lot of car for the price.

When we sell them we get even less for them.

That's the way local cars are...cheap entry, plenty of depreciation.

Best bet...keep driving them till they stop.

thats very true blackie

I wouldn't mind one, but dealers still want up to $17K for them, that's way outside my limited buying power. Some cheapies on eBay but with flood damaged cars coming onto the market, I'd prefer to buy from a dealer with a warranty.

Regrettably mine's for sale (on Carsales) as well. I need a wagon/SUV for business purposes, so the GT has to go to a new home......

Many lookers but not 1 call/email.

It is 1 of only 3 GT's for sale in Brisbane.

Damn, some nice priced cars there. For a buyer that is, I guess not so good for the seller. I'm planning to get another 380 in a couple of months (to replace my other aging VS Commodore).

Hey mate... I had mine on Carsales for about 3 months (2005, black manual 308VRX w/sunroof, with 74k). I am in VIC. Lots of tyre kickers but it sold eventually for $15.5k. It just takes someone to come along that appreciates what the car is. Cause lets face it - these buyers are few and far between in comparison to Commodore/Falcon buyers.

Think you did just start a fight Newi....... Oh, and we bought that car off you, still very happy, and going round corners probably faster then it should be :p Just had it serviced. Wouldnt drive any other type of car, but theres just so dam many of them up here for it to be anywhere near unique

5 years difference I'm not surprised....

You missed the point though...they are so well screwed together, and they devalue so quickly that I can't see the point of selling them when most families need a second car sooner or later.

Yeah fair point!! To be honest I would have kept mine as a 2nd car - just coulden't justify the expense in 2 cars...

I am a bit luckier than you I guess.

I have 3 sons, the deal I made was when you finish your degree you get a 380 as a grad present.

There is a gap between number 2 and number 3 son...so a 380 serial number 32034 just sits under a cover for another 3 years cause me and the missus agreed to treat all our kids equally.

Best part is he has to keep walking past it...daily...and can't drive it cause he has no car....and no degree :)

It's been like that for over a year already...extremely low k's....platinum, leather sunroof etc etc.

.

Do you feel like adopting another son? lol

I just sold mine today finally. I got to the point i didnt think anyone was going to buy it so i decided to keep it so i went out and got some 20inch RJR Racing wheels and tyres. Car looked a million bucks. Would you believe 2 days later car is sold. The wheels sold the car i reckon.
Buyer didnt want to pay extra for the wheels so i removed them.
If someone wants a set going real cheap, PM me quick before they go on ebay

Yours is a beautiful example, but possibly priced a bit high. I know it has low KMs, but still...

I am getting ready to look for something else too. However I am loathed to sell it/trade it for a piitance. To get anything better will cost me $25k at least and to be honest I wouldnt know what to go for. XR6T is about all I would look at. I think going back to a V8 with fuel prices on the rise would be a bit daft at the moment.
GT prices vary a lot betwen 15k and 19k. Yours would be like a new car for the lucky purchaser.

It depends on price and demand
Take this one for example

"Tell him he's dreaming!" Cut that price in half, and he's on the mark. I've seen (on Carsales) good Series 3 GTs with under 50K going for $18-20K, which is the ballpark I'm looking at (for my second 380 in a few months). This poor sap is going to be waiting a looooooooong time.
EDIT: Didn't get the second 380 after all - and will be leaving the Mitsubishi brand when I sell my 380 (in a few more years).

Finally sold mine too - after 3 months on Carsales. $16,250 for 55kms 07 S3 VRX - not much coin lost after 2years of ownership.

p.s. good riddance slushbox automatic!

good to hear you decided against selling your car mate, i went and booked my car in for a service the other day with my mate who is the service manager at Mitsu and does all the valuations for trade in cars as well as buying cars from the auctions for their used car dept. For 21 years. He was saying the other day that he hasn't been able to get his hands on a 380 in about 3 months for the yard, he said they brought a storm gray 380GT and it didn't even make it to the yard, one of the mechanics snapped it up before it went on the lot. They are becoming quiet rare in yards these days. My mate went on saying ''its because no one wants to sell them cause their such a good car, i wish i still had my company car GT'' and the amount of people walk in asking for 380's happens quiet often.

This is what I meant in an earlier post when I suggested the GT may become a 'collectors' car. I admit I used the wrong term I should have said 'desirable' or' wantable ' or 'value for money' instead

I saw a nice dark red GT at shops today, with nice black 19s (or 20s) and lowered. I definately see a lot more modified 380s these days than when they were still being made here, so hopefully the majority of people with them are looking after them. I plan to keep mine for another 5 or so years (unless it dies or something, which I doubt).

Thanks guys...
Yes mine really is too good to give away to someone else.
This is a fantastic car and I have decided to keep it indefinitely.
It is a great show piece for my (car detailing) business!
Maybe a few more mods in the future also.
