Hi All,

my wagon is all of a sudden not starting. Gave symptoms like a flat battery, but it seems the battery is fine (tried three, plus a jump!) Plus the interior lights are barely dimming when trying to start the car.

Initially it was just struggling to turn the motor over, now its not even trying. Is there a starter motor relay I could check? I fear that if its the starter motor on the car, this could be the end of the road for the old girl....

Appreciate any suggestions/advice!

Sam

I'm thinking it may be flooded and hydraulicing? Will check tonight.

check voltage at the starter wire from the main positive wire at the stud, see if its getting full voltage..
Err, dont think there is a starter relay in these. very possible the starter has shat itself aswell

No starter relay there,

Is usually one of a few things to check

1. Assume is an auto, if so could be inhibitor switch, onyl thing that takes me away from that is the fact it has been struggling
2. Starter itself may be worn, brushes etc, try as a temp thing giving the starter a good sharp hit, is a little hard to get to but sometimes with worn brushes will knock the crap out from under the brush and will allow electrical contact
3. Start circuit problem, check for power at the exciter wire, ie the smaller of the 2
4. Engine earthing issue
