Hi Guys,

The TR 2.6 Has been going through fuel like its going out of fashion latley.
I used to be able to get 600-670 ks out of a tank but now im lucky to get 400 ks.
What would be causing this? I know the auto is on its way out but would it increase consumption that much?

maybe o2 senser. had tr that used heaps of fuel replaced the o2 .fuel use dropped.

Blowby past the rings, your driving style, o2 sensor (on long trips), ignition timing, cold weather, short trips, a lot of things affect fuel consumption. The 2.6 auto wasn't too good on fuel when it was new.

check the timing, and idle speed. wrong timing can make the trans feel like its stuffed. but yeah, if the trans is on its way out or slipping, the engine has to work harder to develop the same speed, thus using more fuel.

Hi Guys,
Cheers for the input.
The trans is definitely on its way out, no 2nd till its warm, and it slips into gears a fair bit now.
I know its mainly my fault, and thus driving style has changed alot (Reminds me of that saying, You don't know what you have 'till its gone)
Got a good trans waiting to go in, might look at the rings aswell.
Come to think of it, it has been blowing a fair bit of smoke latley.
Any way to check the o2 sensor?
Cheers
Chris
