I'm curious about what sound insulation exists primarily in the doors or pillars of a KJ-KW Verada. Can anyone who has removed their panels at any stage provide any information on this matter? Cheers, D

In the front pillars, some expanding foam (structural) after the TJ I think, and in the doors little. The early cars have double door seals and fabric matting behind the trim but later cars missed out.

The rear pillars of the early cars have this same matting behind the C pillar, Not sure about the late Veradas but the sound deadening got less and less the newer the cars are.

Yeah, as mcs_xi said.

A few bits of foam is all I could find in the KL that I stripped & a layer of sound deadening under the parcel shelf. My KJ2 doesn't have much more either, although it did get the double door seals, which weren't on the KL. No matting behind the door trims, like the KE had, on either. early c pillar trims got sound deadening too, which I don't recall seeing on the KL ones either?

So basically - nothing really.

Thanks Al & MCS... have been wondering what I've been missing out on, but sounds like not too much at all (was seeing what I could retrofit to the TL). Better off starting from scratch - I only wish I had the knowledge on the most effective way to sound proof/insulate my car, that doesn't involve bloody dynamat or the 'deadening' copycats.
