Hi :) I am getting a low idle speed only when in drive of about 550rpm and slight vibration as well. Is there something I need to be fixing with ISC? I looked up other threads but not sure what to do exactly, is it worth worrying about?
Thanks :2cool:

It's pretty easy to get at and clean, but first how much of a "hands on" type person are you?

I do my own basic services that's about it , anything too complicated or time consuming I go to my mechanic :)

Mine was like that for about 600km after I replaced the battery....takes a while to sort itself out apparently.

I've just landed my current ride, 2001 VRX and have pretty much the samr issue although the idle isn't what i would call low, but certainly a little bit rough...I am a real hands on guy so any info on cleaning would be great.

For what itis worth, I just changed the spark plugs on my wife's TF magna V6. I also checked on the spark plug leads. When i put it all back together, I forgot to connect the ISC motor. It idled at about 1200 R/min when it first started, but then went up to about 2500 R/min. I looked for air leaks etc, but could find nothing. Eventually found the ISC not connected. When I plugged it in, idle went back to about 750, soall is well.

If you have some Throttle body cleaner (CRC Clean-r-carb or Nulon Throttle Body & Carby Cleaner - find them at Supercheap/Autobarn etc) you can clean and inspect your Idle Speed Air Control unit quite easily.

Can't believe nobody has said this yet, but that is a very thorough, pictorially rich and well appreciated explanation, wackywheelz.
I don't have a TE, but I know they're the same as the 2nd gen (my ISC doesn't work).
Thank you for the great work.
Mike

I should add that its important in my opinion to remove the ISC motor , not leave it in while you squirt the throttle body. the cleaning fluid is harsh on the O ring and any rubber seals .

I'll second what manicmike has said - an excellent how-to.

There's a bit more cleaning to be done other than cleaning the ISC, and that is remove the throttle body and clean the valve at the bottom wear the ISC sits.
To do this you have to remove 5 screws from the bottom of the throttle body and remove the spring and valve.

that little section at the bottom is the temperature compensation isnt it? i think its only a bi metal strip.

THANKS HEAPS for the post wackywheelz. Hoping it will solve my idle problem after throwing away $$$ on guestimating mechanics.

Excellent guide! I'm going to give this a try this weekend. Been having rough idle issues.
