Hey all,
Firstly, sorry if this sounds like a dumb question, but I was replacing my standard rear-view mirror for an electro-chromatic one and I did what everyone tells you not to do.
I pulled a chunk out of my windscreen while pulling the mirror off. :facepalm
I've glued the chunk back in with sikaflex, but my question is, will the windscreen now be unsafe, and lead to big cracks etc?
Just a bit concerned.
Thanks.
If you cannot see any cracks radiating from the 'hole' then it probably will be OK. It will not be unroadworthy till the cracks (if any) reach the side of the window. If it was me, I'd keep an eye on it and if cracks do appear and then spread then I'd get it replaced.

Roger that thanks.
I’ve spoken to my insurer and the windscreen can be replaced as part of my cover. I’ll see how it goes, but if I have any trouble I’ll get it replaced.

The windscreen is a 3 layer affair, glass-plastic-glass. All you have done is pull a lump out of the inner glass layer. If the plastic and outer glass layers are intact, its not likely to start growing a travelling crack, but you never know - keep an eye on it, and DON'T point a garden hose with cold water onto a hot screen! Really cute to stand there watching a crack develop and travel quickly across the screen! lol (Just managed to nick the screen's edge slightly with the trim off, had a 1 cm crack that grew slowly over a few weeks, until I washed it! ZAP!)
