What do you guys think of the Rockford Fosgate equipment?
All i did originally when I bought my TJ I did a quickish cheaperish set up to get me going. I pulled out my stereo from my old car which consisted of all Clarion.
The original set up
DX515 Deck
6" Splits with cross overs
6x9
I shopped around and got upgraded to better deck and speakers when I got them so at the time they were either top or the higher end of the Clarion range.
I then added
Clarion APX 400.4 Amp to run the speakers
Clarion APX 400.2 Amp to run the subs
2 x 12 Clarion Subs which i bought off a mate
The 1st part of my plan was to replace the deck, which was brought forward a touch when my original one stuffed up, don't get me wrong, it served me well. I also wanted the 3rd RCA cable...
I now have a Alpine 9815 running the system, my next 2 steps are to finish off my stereo and now I have sorted out lowering of my car with my insurance company I will do that too :)
Anyways, back to the main subject, does Rockford live upto its reputation?
I am looking at rockford
6" 2 way splits for the front
6x9 s for the rear
2 x 12" subbies
the 800W Monoblock amp
and a 4 chan
Thanks in advance.
i'll say wot i am sure many other will say after me. Don't do 6x9's if you are running subs, just go with simple 6" two ways. Keep the two ways you have even. 6x9s will provide more bass but will distort quicker. When it comes to bass your subs will be plenty.
As far as rockford goes, i looked into a bit of their gear, but no shops around me really push it. from what i saw it seems a bit overpriced for what you get tho. My opinion. How much are you lookin at spending?
I'd do it just to be different from everyone else though ;)
RF is quite a well made brand so far as build quality goes.
Speaking sound quality though, there are other brands for the same price which sound much better. :)
That is only my opinion but it is shared with many other people.

Agreed, RF is typically the American type of sound where it's loud and dirty, but good for if you like to listen to music like heavy metal or rock.

if i were you instead of getting a new amp i prolly getting a better speaker dynaudio, morel or PG same goes for the subwoofer and run them from your current amp.
RF is good, but they're geared towards SPL instead of SQ, but that's just me.. :)

I rather be going for SQ, I can get RFs through a friend cheaper, he can also get me alpine equipment...
My second idea was to maybe go alpine speakers and shop around for some JLs/Ecplise subs...
Bout keeping my amps, I have pushed the 2 channel amp a lil bit and every now n then the therm protector kicks in and cuts it off but hopefully this problem can be overcome when i get my boot installed made up and get some fans put in.

I highly recomend RF subs especially the higher end ones, but as far as mid and high range products you could probably find something else alot better quality for alot less money!

hey ivan (sorry if you ain't ivan!!! :D )
where the heck you been at work lately?? You workin days or setting up livingston??
anywho, i been told basically what has already been said - that is, RF is more SPL than SQ (this was by alberts in vic park), but their subs are great.
Let us know what you decide/how things turn out!!!
And pics of the install!!!

Well.. Ive had rockford subs running for the last few years, and altho they can be pricey in comparison to similar models in other brands, Id recommend them.. I had a 10" which was nice and tight, and now 2 12"s which are still tighter than others ive heard (sony, pioneer).. but still give a nice vibration through the car.. :)
Its also true about the 6x9s.. they will distort and theres not much point spending money on them if your running a nice sub system..
Rockfords also tend to like being overpowered.. so once theyve been broken in a little dont hesitate to turn the gain up.. I doubt you would be disappointed..

don't look past jl for speakers either... i love jl audio gear :D :D Amps r great, pricey, but great :D :D

Hey Dan

After that comment Dan, I think a " :bowrofl: " would of been more appropriate... :P
Daniel, been acting business manager last 4/5 weeks so I have been on days, then due to the floor strip and needing a manager on while cleaners were there I did a 23 hr shift on sunday/monday, had mon/tues off, then work Wed nite really late so thursday off...
Anyways, back 2 subject...
What I thinking now, stick with the RFs for atleast the amps n subs and look into possibly using alpine speakers.
