Hey guys,
I am currently running dual 12" kickers, I am needing some decent splits to go withem.
Im looking for the some good splits ( NO OVERKILL) to run directly off my 52W sony head unit. Price does not really bother me if i am just buying splits without the amp.
JBHIFI is probably the store that is easiest for me to get to.
Please recommend me a split from this site... so many options
Cheers

While I havent personally heard them and I cant find many tech specs on them, the low power handling of the MB Quart splits may indicate a higher sensitivity which would many them more ideal for running off a head unit. Just a thought.

Take in a cd of what you normally listen to and get them to play it on the speakers you are looking at.
Speaker preference is usually subjective and what someone else may reccomend may not be to your liking.
I'd take a drive to freeway car audio or garys car audio and have a look and listen to their range. And to be honest theyre in a far better position to dispense car audii advice than jb hifi, strathfield or autobarn.

Thanks guys,
What would i be looking for when listening to these splits? Does bass of the speakers determine the quality of the speakers?
Most of what i listen to is really basy with vocals. or are tweeters are what i should be looking at for vocals while my splits and speakers are to produce the bass.
Just want to be able to crank up my volume without hearing any distortion.
PS will be getting my car dynamatted soon

Your running the splits off the headunit, therefore you are still going to hear distortion when you crank it.... they will however still sound much better than stock..
My suggestion would be to go out and get and amp to power the components....
When listening to speakers, you are really just testing to see which one has the sound you like (As everybody has different tastes..)... so take your favourite cd and see what it sounds like on each speaker!

You not really going to get something to go well with the kickers since you have them amped and dont intend on amping the speakers. This is a big no no in my books from a Sound Quality stand point, the MB Quart's are quite a nice speaker well a nice warm sound to them and some of the kicker splits JB sell arent to far behind, so they are worth a listen.
I cannot recommend enough that you should actually amp your speakers, to help that power output and giving it a cleaner, and louder sound.
As for what to listen for,
You should get a nice range of male vocals out of the mids, aswell as a nice bass line. As for the tweeters you should listen for a balanced female vocal. Some tweeters can come off too bright aswell, which can ruin the experience so have a look at the cross overs and what attenuation they can do.

I have 4" MTX audio's that are 150 watt with the cross over box's and 2 tweeters (VDO Clarity). Very good sound. the 4"'s get the mids and the tweeters blast the highs..
All yours for $100
BTW i had it running with 2x12" CVR kickers. They performed insane! I listen to hardstyle so a mix of high mid and low if that helps

Yeah thanks guys,
Ive just went up to JBHIFI for some advice, I had been worried about running another power line from my battery, but the salesman told me i could run it through a distributer with the power cable ive already hooked up with the sub at the back... awsome
To hook my amp to the headunit would mean i would need another set of RCA output... wouldnt it?

Noobie question, im running 4" speakers as stock at the moment? so they should bolt straight on? would you have an amp lying around too?

I bought an older set of 4 inch kicker splits brand new in the box for $30 obviously not everyone has this chance, but they are far better than the jvc 2 ways that they replaced.
even though im running them off the head unit they stil produce a much clearer sound than my 6x9's although not as much bass.

I haven't seen what other speakers a verada has, but being a 3rd gen it'd be better to install a set of 6" or 6.5" splits.
+1 for amping, however you are correct your current headunit isn't ideal. You would need to split the 1 signal a fair few times and I'm having a rough experience with this myself, but it can be done. I had 2 subs and a 4 channel running off my old sanyo with 1 pair of rca out, didn't sound as good as having dedicated outputs though.

Running mine off a SS reference 145x4 4 channel. If you set the tweeter positions, staging, time alignment and door sealing you WON'T need 6x9's :) It ruins the effect these splits give
