Long story short:
I bought a 96 magna (V6 TR I think)
All that was wrong with it was it needed new water pump
I pulled car apart and replaced water pump.
Didn't mark the timing belt ( I know, rookie mistake)
made heaps of other rookie mistakes, like putting all the pieces/bolts in a big pile.
and now I can't put it back together (it's probably more like I can't be ****ed putting it back together)
So I think there are 2 options.
Option 1 - I pay someone to come and fix it for me!
Option 2 - Someone pays me and takes it away.... Scoring themselves a cheap magna!!
What do you guys reckon?
P.s I'l post pictures for anyone who is keen to take it....

LOL!!! Sounds like something I'll do when the next (my first) 100k km service comes up. Surely it wouldn't be too much to pay someone to fix it? If you've taken it apart why not find a diy for timing belt change and just put a few more hours into it?

I did something similar to my magna a few weeks ago. My advice, PAY someone to fix it if you have no idea what your doing

may as well have a crack at fixing it, worst you can do is stuff it up, then you can get someone to take it away. Having a go, best way to learn. Also, once you know your engine, makes it much easier to work out faults if you ever have a problem. Both the 2nd and 3rd gen v6 engines are pretty easy to work on once you've taken them apary a few times.
Take a camera and a ruler down to a self serve wreckers, and pull the engine apart there. Measure the bolts etc, take pics of the order it comes apart in, and put yours back together in the reverse order? Also, the service manuals can be found here if you want to try from drawings without practice:

Thanks for your advice guys. I really don't have the time to fix it myself. Around how much do you reckon it would cost to get fixed? And how much do you reckon I'd get for it in it's current state?
Depending on where you live in Qld, you may get $500 for it if you are very lucky and even at that price it may take a few weeks of advertising to find a buyer. I'm presuming the car has no rego, and with no engine it will need to be flat bedded by whoever buys it. To put it all together will cost more than it would to buy a similar car with rego and a RWC....plenty available for around $2000.
So my take on it is go for your option 2......ditch it and cut your losses.
Good Luck.

You guys are only sayin that cos you live in Tasi lol I'd be happy to get rid of it for 400. There's really not that much to do to it. Just put timing belt, alternator and engine mounts back on.
