Hi All,

So i bit the bullet a month ago and bought a Verada, it seems to be a real nice car, however it has one problem i can't seem to fix! and its now starting to tick me

Her idle is not the best, i personally think its a bit ruff not very smooth at all (well depending what mood it is in) it sometimes feels like its about to die in the but!

sometimes the revs will go up and down (like searching) sometimes it dont.

When i got my car a tune up... it idled great for about an hr then back to normal.

I replaced the 02 sensor! thinking maybe that was it!

I was reading somewhere when you replace 02 sensors its sometimes a good idea to reset the computer so it can do its thing. so i restarted the computer (by unplugging the battery for 45mins) when it was installed - When i started the car it idled great (for about an hr) So every time the computer gets rebooted it will idle fine for about an hr.

So from lots of reading i might try a Stepper Motor next?

Any suggestions?

She has new leads / plugs / timing kit etc etc has had a tune up and just been serviced - she is well looked after!

I would also check for vacuum leaks in the hoses, any holes in them and it will make your idle erratic. The stepper motor (Idle Air Control) is easy to get at and clean, which can only help. By now you've probably seen my quick guide to cleaning, if not here (http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/showthread.php?t=86505&p=1371615&viewfull=1#post1371615) it is.

I have the same problem in my ei.... its a bloody nuisance. Even after $1300 service its still crappy. Also, if it has been sitting there for 24hrs or so, does it take a while to start and get going?
