My rotors are wearing abit and have formed quite significant ridges.

reface/machine or replace, which is cheaper???

and what are the best alround brake pads

I just bought new rear rotors for just over $60 for the pair on Ebay....brake place wants $55 to machine the old ones so I'd be crazy not to use new ones.
Similar for the front rotors although they were just under $100 for the pair and again I figured why go to all the hassle of taking rotors into brake shop and wait a day or so for them to machine them just to save $45.
I used Bendix Ultimate pads ....seem to be OK though I seem to get a bit of brake dust.

Maybe you used the wrong search description - use "magna discs" which I just used and found fronts for $79 and rears for $60.50 so they are still there. Here is the front: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/MITSUBISHI-MAGNA-TR-TS-DISC-BRAKE-ROTORS-NEW-/290368987423?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item439b57211f
