Hi Guys,
Looking at an upgrade on the TR's Horn soon, the old one sounds like its dying and is barely loud!.
What car has a loud horn? Sorta looking at old falcons/fairlanes (xd/xf etc), vr/vs commys (can get these easily). Or would a mitsubishi galant (early ninetys) have a loud one?
Cheers
Chris

The duel horn system on the 380 is quite loud. One of those would be a nice upgrade.

Perhaps an ford AU horn should be cheap enough, make sure you grab its loom(if app) and mounting bracket.
I adfed some wire to mine and put it in front of the radiator.
Cost me 5 bucks all up

I put 380 horns on my TR, I just needed to install a relay as the TR negative switch where as the 380 horn are positive switch. But it was easy simply installed job :) My TR ride thread has the diagram and details about the conversion :)

Look out for the twin ford horns - FIAMM brand, that look like a trumpet horns...make sure you get two, high and low tone...http://www.google.com.au/imgres?imgurl=http://www.stealth316.com/images/fh-installed.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.stealth316.com/2-fiammhorn.htm&usg=__uEp61rae4WEDv7x_IA7KJbJIE3I=&h=300&w=400&sz=38&hl=en&start=0&zoom=1&tbnid=pxAZWAHcQUT_0M:&tbnh=146&tbnw=204&ei=nHd0Ta7YMsOycNu1vPsC&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dfiamm%2Bhorn%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26cli ent%3Dfirefox-a%26sa%3DN%26rlz%3D1R1GGLL_en___AU386%26biw%3D1167 %26bih%3D909%26tbs%3Disch:1&um=1&itbs=1&iact=hc&vpx=335&vpy=244&dur=1&hovh=194&hovw=259&tx=140&ty=92&oei=nHd0Ta7YMsOycNu1vPsC&page=1&ndsp=25&ved=1t:429,r:6,s:0HERE are examples (http://www.stealth316.com/2-fiammhorn.htm)

They're toys - I've got a genuine Klaxon horn from Chattanooga Tennessee......now that attracts attention! My big brother picked it up from the factory back in the 70's. It needs a big relay as it drags over 20 amps.

If you're up for a challenge, My mate had a 1953 or 56 Morris 1000 and the horn on that thing was a giant snail as big as a monster turbo.
It was loud and deep and cleared cops off the road when he ran out of brakes.
The challenge is that it's +ve earth, so you'd have to insulate it, but it would be distinctive (although not like a Klaxon).

Overkill I know but the 'coffee van guy' who comes through our work imported a train horn from overseas.
From memory he said the horn itself weighed about 20-30kg and the cost of horn and install was over $2000.

People used to seriously crap themselves from over 50m away and he has been 'asked' not to use it anymore at our warehouse, now has to make do with the 'soft' musical airhorns now!

years ago I converted my 1963 VW beetle to 12V but left the old 6V horn in. I worked really well on 12V. You coudl try one of those!
