Gday guys,

My 98 Magna has a few issues with the fuel guage.

i filled up this morning, filled the tank, anyway after getting back in the car it didnt register as full. driving home the guage kept moving all over the place from a full tank to being a little bit below empty. it is now hovering at about 3/4 of a tank. i know there is about 95% in the tank

thanks in advance

Could be one of 2 things. Easy one i'd do is go to the wreckers, remove the rear seat bottom (2 latches that you pull towards the front of the car and tugg the material and it just pops off) then there is a small square in the middle, undo the 4 bolts then remove the fuel level register. it looks like the ones in the top of your toilet where the water pools.

then put it in your car and see if it works :) if not it MIGHT be your cluster

Thanks for those guys.

took the back seat out tongiht after work and removed that plate. it appeared very dusty on the top in amongst all the wires and the pipe. is it possible that water may have been causing some sort of fault as the problem started the day after we had about 40mm of rain?

also is there a way to test if the fuel sender is faulty before removing? i had a little fiddle tonight, didnt have long as it was dark and i had just gotten home from work :)

thanks
