Hey guys

I just bought a bottle of power steering fluid from repco, as its closer to me than mitsubishi.

The guy looked up what power steering fluid goes into a TJ to make sure im putting the right stuff in etc, and i noticed after i bought it its redish fluid and the stuff i have in there atm is yellow but its very low hence why i bought some.

Is it ok to mix the fluids together theres not much of the yellow its very low, or should i return it and buy the yellow one from mitsu...

Cheers guys

Pretty sure it'll be fine..
If in doubt you could return the pink stuff & get some genuine stuff.
Power steering fluid is pretty much regular auto trans fluid to the best of my knowledge.. Hence the pink colour! Not the good stuff than mitsi's need in their trans though!

If you're worried you could flush it out:

Suck all you can out of the cannister, fill with new fluid, turn car on, turn steering wheel from lock to lock repeatedly, then repeat all steps a few time and viola, new fluid.

(That's assuming there's no better method on magnas)

If your fluid is yellow, you should flush the system. I have some Genuine steering fluid here and it's red

Factory fill was more a yellow colour for some reason, the replacement from Mits is Red

IF it is still the original then is way way past due

I checked mine today and was about to post the same question. Mine is very yellow mello so guess what i'm doing in the near future?? Mind you I did have a pulsar sss (the actual last of the N14 models) and I never even touched the P/S fluid for 12 years.

Is there a prefered fluid like the auto transmissions? or a good brand name will do???

Thanks TreeAdey!
I'm gonna be checking / flushing mine soon so that's handy.. Except there's no explanation on how to bleed the air from the system!!

Done the same way as draining it - fill up, turn engine over without starting, and keep filling the reservoir until no more bubbles appear. If you run the engine before all the air is out, the oil will aerate and the pump will be noisy for weeks to come.
